Netflix's Scariest Movie

So if you don't know what this movie is about it's a Netflix movie about a girl named Verónica who get's an evil entity attached to her. This spirit came to her when she was trying to contact her boyfriend and ended up contacting her father instead. She ends up dying a few months later. People believe her death and the Ouija session are tied together because there was no other explanation to her death. It is an unsolved case because people are not sold on the idea of a evil spirit murderer. Her name was changed for the movie, her real name was Estefania Gutierrez Lazaro. She lived in Madrid and went to a catholic school.

How does an evil spirit connect to a teenager or possess her? Well for one they didn't follow the rules for Ouija boards. Also her friends said that they saw a smoke going into her nose and mouth. Now the smoke could have been anything especially if the girls had been smoking or lit candles. I don't know what they were doing while they were playing with the board but it was an explanation. The explanation that believers of Ouija boards believe is that the smoke or mist was a spirit entering Verónica/Estefania.

Over the next six months she started having seizures and hallucinations. She told her family that she saw evil shadows in her room and they took her to see doctors. After she died in the hospital no one could explain what happened. Her house was also haunted after her death and there are actually police reports that have the stories of the hauntings.

Now obviously there are somethings that the movie got wrong because it's Hollywood and they tend to not tell the whole story. In the movie they suggested that Verónica/Estefania had lost her father before the paranormal activity but he was actually alive through the whole thing. So the whole thing about contacting her father in the session is a lie too. In some reports or stories the scene where the nun breaks the board is also a lie. I think I heard all of her interactions with nuns were played up for the movies, which is true to form for Hollywood or Hollywood like productions.

Now what could have been done in this case to help her? Honestly not a lot. It depends on the strength of the spirit that has a hold on someone. It also depends on intent too. The spirit that had a hold on Verónica (Estefania) could have wanted to cause the most harm to her. There are so many types of spirits and they may have an agenda. It's also about what you allow the spirits to do and some people may not be as possess-able as others. There's a difference between possession and attachment which I talked in one of my Ouija board posts. One way you can tell the difference is possession will make someone act different and attachment will make weird things happen around the person. So depending on which one was happening to her would determine next step, you can't do exorcisms on people who aren't possessed. You can, however, get religious help in either case. The way they handle possession may differ from how they handle attachment. Also get rid of the board by breaking it in seven pieces, sprinkling it with holy water and burying it.

What can we learn from this case? Learn how to treat a Ouija bored and what to do after you use one before a session. Also don't play one in a catholic school with crazy nuns.
