The Terror is an Excellent and Terrifying Tale About Men Being Lost at Sea
This is one of the best horror stories ever brought to television.

It’s so rare of me to ever say these words about a horror TV show:
I believe the first season of The Terror was incredible storytelling.
I had never bothered to watch the show when I was in college, because I always had doubts about scary stories when it comes to men lost at sea. I ended up binging the show this month in four days…I LOVED IT.
The show follows the story of two ships known as The Terror and Erebus. The ships are being led by three captains, several lieutenants, and a huge group of men residing on both ships. I honestly thought the story would lack when it came to the characters, because there were so many of them to follow!
The show was written so well, and it made every character on screen matter to the story. I never got bored with any of the characters, they were incredibly interesting to watch!
Things immediately go wrong when one of the captains is determined to find a place during the expedition, known as The Passage. One of his right-hand men, Crozier, desperately pleads with him they must abandon their expedition, because they will all pay the price with their lives.
The captain obviously doesn’t listen, and everything goes to hell for the men…and they become trapped in one of the worst situations I have ever seen in a horror show. The men were traveling in the Arctic Ocean, and the water ends up completely freezing up, trapping both ships in the water.
And things get ten times worse when the men discover that a monster is lurking nearby, hunting them down.
It’s a fantastic mix of reality and supernatural horror, and watching these men slowly succumb to their end is beyond disheartening and tragic to watch. You will come to love the majority of the cast; we are literally watching their final moments as they struggle to survive in an impossible situation. I felt devastated watching their fates…because they were already dead once their ships came to a standstill.
My most favorite character in this show was a doctor named Dr. Harry Goodsir.
And he was indeed a good sir.

This man was the most genuine good soul I have ever seen in any horror related show. Goodsir always wanted to keep the peace, always wanted to help people in any way that he could, and he refused to give in to the dark side, always sticking to his good morals.
He even befriends a woman that is labeled Lady Silence by the men, a stranger that lives on the land that the men become trapped in. Their bond was so unexpected. Goodsir and Lady Silence were so wholesome together. They were by each other’s side throughout the horrible things that took place. Their bond was so special, and it made me emotional in several scenes they shared together.
I’m not playing when I say this, but I’m willing to watch this show all over again, just for their friendship.
I suggest to all horror fans out there, PLEASE GO WATCH THIS SHOW.
It’s one of the best horror shows ever made, and damn, you will struggle to get through the show…I got so emotional toward the final episodes. This entire story is bleak from beginning to end, and man, the characters were amazing in the show!
The Terror is a beautiful and dreadful show about what men will do to survive, but even during these horrible moments, love and honor still linger among the men.
