The Serpent Girl
The cursed tale of a village that still trembles in silenceโฆ

My name is Nimra. Every summer vacation, I visited my grandmotherโs home in a small, quiet village. It was the kind of place where even time seemed to slow down โ no internet, no traffic, just endless fields and the sound of birds.
But that summerโฆ something was different.
I noticed the old mansion across from my grandmotherโs house.
The Mansionโs Secret
It looked abandoned โ broken windows, rusted gates, and a kite stuck on the roof that had never moved even in the strongest winds.
One day, while I was on the rooftop, I saw a girl staring at me from the broken window of the mansion.
She didnโt blink.
She didnโt move.
I rushed downstairs and asked my grandmother, โWho lives in that house?โ
Her face turned pale.
โDonโt ever look at that place, Nimra,โ she whispered. โA Serpent Girl lives there.โ
The Legend of the Serpent Girl
Years ago, a girl was born in this village โ half human, half snake. People believed she was cursed. Out of fear and shame, they locked her in that mansion.
Before she died, she swore vengeance.
She promised to return every 20 yearsโฆ
and take a new girlโs body as her own.
This yearโฆ it had been exactly 20 years.
I laughed at the story, brushing it off.
But my grandmother didnโt laugh.
The Night It All Began
Three days later, I had a dream. In it, I was inside the mansion. The walls were cracking, snakes slithered from every corner, and right in the middle stood the girl โ human from the top, serpent from the waist down.
She smiled at me.
When I woke up, my hands and feet were covered in mud.
But I had cleaned myself before going to bedโฆ
The Changes Began
In the days that followed, strange things started happening:
I began seeing snakes in my dreams โ always watching me.
My hands sometimes turned cold and scaly.
I avoided mirrors.
I stopped going near people.
One day, I noticed the way I walked had changed. I wasnโt walkingโฆ
I was gliding.
Grandmotherโs Final Warning
My grandmother hugged me tight one evening and whispered:
โIf sheโs entered youโฆ then nothing can stop her this time.โ
That night, I silently walked out of the house.
The Village Today
No one has seen me since.
The mansion remains locked.
Villagers say that on some nights, they hear whispers and hissing coming from the mansionโฆ and sometimes, the sound of a girl crying.
But the scariest thing?
They say if you look too long into the eyes of certain girls in the villageโฆ
youโll feel something cold watching you from deep inside.
