The Return of the Living Dead Has the Worst Zombies in Horror
These zombies are impossible to defeat.

Zombies have been depicted as powerful when they are in hordes, or sometimes they are able to transform in other forms of media to become stronger to take out their enemies. However, there is only one franchise where these zombies are literally impossible to take down.
The Return of the Living Dead zombies are literally indestructible. I have recently watched the first film in this franchise, and I can’t believe how powerful these damn things are. To fully take down a zombie in this franchise, you must either dismember, or burn them to ashes.
However, there is a major kicker with either option.
Dismembering the zombies does slow them down, but it requires a lot of effort, and imagine how tired the survivors are going to be, having to do this to every single zombie?
To top it off, these things are still moving around, determined to get to the brains, that is apparently the only way for the dead to no longer feel pain in their current rotting state. They also love to attack in hordes, so the thought of attempting to dismember each of them does not sound like an easy thing.
While burning them is the only way to get the dead to fully stay dead, there is an awful consequence to this action too.
These zombies have one thing that is super easy for people to get infected. Personally, I would call this, ‘The Smoke of the Dead,’ because if the bodies are burned to a crisp, say, through a morgue…then that smoke is going to spread through any present area. Like…if there was a graveyard nearby, then if people are around, they are completely screwed.
The graveyard will awaken, and they will go after any person they come across. And it sucks that they are already in a horde by this point, so multiple people are going to get killed.
There is only one way to get the dead killed…but it only results in even worse disaster.
I assumed nuking them would solve the problem, but it only led to even more deaths and people becoming the dead. The smoke is the straight up killer here, and from the brutal ending of the first film in the franchise, we clearly saw the results of what happened to possibly the entire world. After blowing up the last of the main characters that were still alive, you assumed it was somewhat of a happy ending, but instead, the government ended up spreading the smoke…and using a nuke probably made the infection worldwide.
So…is there any possible solution to an infection this deadly?
I honestly think this is one of these few cases where somehow trapping the dead is the only possible solution.
Even though I’m always against quarantine in zombie shows or movies, in the Return of the Living Dead case…I think this would be the only way to resolve this awful situation. The government would have to somehow conjure up an insane plan…and I think I have the insane solution.
Stephen King once did a book on a whole town getting trapped under a dome.
What if the government resorted to something this drastic?
Unfortunately, they would end up trapping thousands or millions of people in one city, but they would be able to prevent the infection from spreading. It’s completely inhumane, but in circumstances like this, what choice would they have?
When it comes the zombies from The Return of the Living Dead, the government would have to conduct the most messed up plans to ensure the infection would never spread. These zombies are impossible to fully kill, and it also doesn’t help that they are able to even act human to get what they want.
So yeah…I would 100% support the huge dome plan.
