The house that death lives in.
More horrifying than any movie, the "real" house on haunted hill is located in the small rural town of Jellico Tennessee. This old house is filled with real life nightmares and mysteries. People report seeing spirit orbs on the property at night and even seeing ghostly faces peering through the windows and disembodied voices and sounds that send fear through their veins.

The property has undergone renovations several times however no attempt was ever completed. The construction workers always seem to leave abruptly without finishing the job, even leaving their tools behind.

The locals refuse to trespass or enter the house and some of them refuse to even walk or drive past it.

In the 1940s this was a beautiful country style, family home. Those who can remember say it was the nicest house in town. A preacher and his family occupied the house and there are tales of children always playing in the yard and fresh laundry hanging on lines beneath the sun. Every Sunday after church the preacher hosted Sunday dinners and it seemed as if the entire town gathered in the house and yard enjoying themselves.

One night something went horribly wrong inside of this house and still to this day nobody knows why or what happened. People are still hesitant to even talk about it.

On a Sunday evening in late September, after their usual dinner and gathering, the family was never seen alive again. After several days the neighbors became concerned when the preacher failed to show up to work, the three children did not attend school and no freshly washed clothes were hanging on the lines. By the middle of the week friends and family became extremely worried and decided to visit. Believing that the family was most likely suffering from illness they arrived at the house with warm soups and other comforting items for them. Upon entering the home what they found inside has lived in the nightmares of the people in Jellico for over 60 years.

In the kitchen, the wife was found wrapped in bloody linens. She had been shot six times. Her body was neatly wrapped in bed sheets and placed perfectly in a chair at the kitchen table. In front of her, in a plate was the family's beloved dog with a carving knife in its side. A setting of silverware and a glass full of red wine sit on each side of the plate. The room was filled with flies and the stench of blood and death hang heavily in the air. The kitchen sink was still filled with the dinner dishes from the Sunday dinner that they had all enjoyed.

Upstairs the preacher was found in the bedroom. He had been nailed to the wall with nails in each of his hands. He was also shot six times. Below him on the floor and star had been drawn on the floor with blood, in the center of the star a bloody teddy bear laid with its head separated from the body. The bed was covered in blood and it appeared as if he had been shot first before being nailed to the wall.

In the attic the three children were found, not one of them had been harmed. They had suffocated while hiding in a large trunk. It appeared that they had fallen asleep and never awakened.

The entire town mourned the loss of their beloved but they was also struck with a fear that caused their blood to run cold. The house was locked and the windows covered with sheets. Nobody wanted to go back inside of that house. All of the furniture and belongings remained inside untouched. The house remained this way until the 1960s when it was finally purchased by an outsider and converted into a funeral home.

For 20 years the house served as a funeral parlor but most of the customers came from out of town. Nobody who knew about the house wanted to go anywhere near it. Some even said that it was cursed and haunted. During funerals that were held inside of the house people claimed to see ghostly figures walking up and down the stairs. The sounds of children laughing and playing could be heard, even when no children were around. Ultimately people claimed that an unknown man and woman would sometimes attend the funerals, sitting silently in the back and vanish into thin air.

In the 1980s the funeral parlor was finally closed. Several different owners came and went but none of them seemed to leave peacefully.

A young woman living in the house electrocuted herself and her newborn child in the upstairs bath tub. Another family that moved into the house all died from self inflicted gun shot wounds. An elderly couple living in the house overdosed on medication at the same time losing their lives in the bedroom upstairs. Another family moved into the house only to find their son suffocated in the attic. He was playing hide and seek and was finally found much too late. The last gentleman to live in the house hung himself in the kitchen.

The house has sit vacant now for over ten years. It seems to have decayed and fallen apart quickly, more so than other empty houses in the area. It sits eerily silent and alone. Vandals have even spared the old house, not a single window is broken.

Stories of odd things happening around the house still live. A ghostly woman peering from the kitchen window. Sounds of phantom gunshots, children laughing, and a baby crying have all been reported. Photographs of spirit orbs around the house still get posted on social media.

One of the construction workers hired to renovate the old house claimed to hear an evil, demonic sounding voice tell him to GET OUT, he also claimed to have been bitten and scratched while inside. The other workers refused to comment on why they had abruptly left the property leaving behind many of their tools and appliances.

In the basement old coffins and embalming equipment remains from the funeral parlor. Some people even say that many of the personal possessions of those who once lived in the house, can be found in the attic.

Most of the locals who lived to witness the horrors of this house are hesitant to talk about it. Some refuse to even pass by the house, finding alternate routes.

What went wrong on that fatal Sunday night when the preachers family were all killed? Nobody seems to have ever figured it out. What persuaded the future residents to harm and kill themselves inside of this house? Who was the ghostly visitors at the funeral parlor? Could something terribly evil really live within these walls? Is this the "real" house on haunted hill?
