The Passenger

The Passenger:

It was a cool night on October 20, 2013 just 11 days before Halloween Henry Johnson 6’4” man tan complexion was at his office just finishing up work for the night, so he called his wife Jenny to let her know he was coming home she was happy to hear his voice and told him she loved him.

So Henry locked up the office and got in his car and drove on to Highway 19, it was getting dark quickly so he turn on the radio to hear some news, about 10 minutes down the road at a distance Henry notice a figure of a woman dress in a white dress dark long hair. Henry slowed the car as he approached the woman to see what was wrong, she told him that her friend had dropped her off but would be back to pick her up but she was nervous since 2 hours had passed and her friend never came. So Henry told her he would give her a ride to the next town there he would take her home.

For Henry this was new since he never picked up strangers,but he felt bad leaving this woman at night in a deserted highway. So as he was driving the woman sat in the backseat Henry notice she was pale looking and had a strange fragrance on her, but he just kept driving as he got to the womans house she got out of the car and thanked him for his generous gesture, he told her no problem, so she went into the house . Henry noticed that she left her purse in the seat so he got out of the car and knocked on the door after several knocks an elderly woman answered the door he told the elderly woman that the woman he gave a ride to left her purse in the car.

Henry told the elderly woman that the woman went into the house but the elderly woman didn’t understand Henry she said that she lived in the house alone that her husband died 3 years ago, but Henry told her that he was not crazy he dropped a woman off in this house then Henry notice a picture on the wall by the door of the woman he had dropped off he told the elderly woman that’s the woman I dropped off here, the elderly woman said that’s impossible that’s my daughter Mary she died 10 years ago on Highway 19.

Henry told the woman if this was some joke she said no she really is dead and you are one of many people that have seen her. So Henry excused himself and walked to the car in shock he could not believe what had happened, so he drove home his wife Jenny was waiting for him on the porch she was worried since he had taken longer than usual that evening.

By this time Henry looked pale and was shaking a bit he told Jenny the whole story she thought it was another of Henry’s stories, but she had heard of this incident before so she and Henry went inside the house had dinner and went to bed for the evening. The next day Henry got up it was Saturday he sat in the porch and decided to look more into the event that happened the night before he went to his computer and found out that the won he gave a ride was called Mary Thomas a nurse it turns out Mary worked at the Hospital as a volunteer nurse, and one night as she walked home from work a woman picked her up and rob her and killed her. Her body was found within the area Henry had picked her up.

Now Henry had all the information he needed so he would explain to himself what had happened the night before. Moral of the story don’t pickup strangers on Halloween week.
