The mystery of the "ghost" ship left all the sailors dead in extreme terror

The ship is believed to have sent out a distress signal in the Strait of Malacca, where flight MH370 disappeared in 2014.

Dutch ship SS Ourang Medan.

According to Mirror, all sailors and captains on the SS Ourang Medan were found dead in a state of "extreme terror" without any injuries on their bodies.

The incident happened when the Dutch ship SS Ourang Medan sent a distress signal in the Strait of Malacca in 1948. This is also where plane MH370 disappeared in 2014.

A rescue ship present 80km away detected a distress signal and quickly arrived.

According to declassified CIA documents, the emergency signal read: "All dead, including the captain... I am the only survivor..."

The document prepared by C.H Marck Jr, assistant CIA Director Allen Dulles in 1959, wrote: “A moment later the signal was restored, but there was only one sentence: 'I am dying', then ended with a silence”.

The sailor on the ship died mysteriously.

The CIA believes that what happened on the SS Ourang Medan could be the basis for decoding the mysterious disappearances of cargo ships in the Strait of Malacca.

Present on the SS Ourang Medan, the rescue workers had goosebumps at the horrifying scene before their eyes. “There are no survivors on board,” one of the staff who rescued them said, according to CIA documents.

“The captain died in the control room. The bodies of the sailors were scattered everywhere. A radio operator, who was probably the one who sent out the emergency signal, died while working."

The only thing in common was that on the faces of all the sailors, their eyes were wide open, their mouths were open, scared as if they had encountered something very scary. A dog on the ship died with its snout still baring its fangs as if threatening someone.

Rescue workers were about to tow the ship back to port to hand it over to investigators when "at that moment, a large column of smoke and fire rose up." This caused everyone to abandon ship.

The ship exploded before sinking into the sea.

A loud explosion occurred not long after and the ship sank to the bottom of the sea. It was not until 6 years later, in 1954, that people mentioned this tragedy again.

Some people question whether the ship really exists when maritime data does not mention the SS Ourang Medan or there is data showing the rescue ship Silver Star trying to rescue.

Explaining why the crew died mysteriously, some people hypothesize that the Dutch ship may have been carrying an extremely dangerous mixture of potassium cyanide and nitroglycerin.

This toxic gas leaking out may have caused the crew to die in a state of terror. But it's unclear what caused the ship to explode.

These are all "banned" substances, transported illegally in the context of the international situation at the end of World War II becoming tense and could cause a terrible incident if careless.

In particular, Potassium cyanide may be the cause of the death of the crew, because this substance easily reacts with acids to form cyanic acid, a volatile poison.

Nitroglycerin is a liquid that is very sensitive to impact and is the main ingredient in gunpowder. This may have caused the ship to explode, leaving no evidence behind.

After all, after more than 70 years, there is still no official conclusion about what happened to the S.S Ourang Medan. The mystery of the tragedy of the "ghost ship" Ourang Medan has become the inspiration for many works of art and films adapted from real events. To date, this is still one of the greatest mysteries of maritime history.

The Ourang Medan is one of my favorite ghost ship stories. I've heard a couple theories relating to that they may have been transporting "banned" cargo including that the cargo was created by Unit 731, who specialized in research development of chemical and biological warfare by conducting very unethical experiments on Chinese prisoners.
