The Manuscript of Doom: The Swamp of Azbakia

The Curse of Azbakia: The Open Gate

The story began when Omar, a young man who loved mystery and solving puzzles, came across a book with a worn cover and a smell like buried earth. He bought it from an old man in the Azbakia Wall, a place no one saw except at certain times. When he dusted off the cover, the name "Shams al-Ma'arif al-Kubra" (The Great Sun of Knowledge) appeared in faded red lines, as if written in blood that had dried years ago. At the time, Omar didn't know that he hadn't just bought a book; he had bought a one-way ticket to a world best left unknown.

It all started with WhatsApp conversations between him and his friend Yassin. Omar would message him excitedly: "Yassin, I found a strange manuscript! It smells like old dust, but I feel like it's a treasure!" Yassin would reply, warning him: "Drop that garbage! These are suspicious books that bring curses!" But Omar couldn't hear. He would sit on the balcony of his house in the Sayyida Zeinab neighborhood, reading incantations he didn't understand, until one night he uttered the names of entities like "Tahtimghlish," "Maimoun Aba Noukh," and "Shamharoush."

As soon as he uttered the names, the world around him changed. Omar wrote in his diary: "Today the street suddenly fell silent, and people started moving slowly, as if the walls of the house had become transparent. I heard the voice of 'Burqan' whispering ancient covenants in my ear, and the cat that was sleeping next to me ran away screaming in a human voice! The mirrors stopped reflecting his image, and when he looked up, he would see the tall silhouette of an entity called "Al-Ahmar" (The Red), its eyes gleaming red, standing behind him in the corner. Fear gripped Omar, and he began sending Yassin terrified messages: "Yassin, the voices have increased. 'Zub'a' and 'Madhab' are stuck inside my head, dictating terrifying incantations. Gates have opened in every wall of the room!"

Yassin rushed to Omar's house and broke down the door after sensing something was amiss. He found Omar hanging in the middle of the room, his body stretched in the air as if held by an invisible hand, his eyes completely white. His family immediately took him to Abbasiya Hospital. There, he faced true hell. The nurses heard banging and incantations coming from Omar's room every night, and when they painted the walls to cover the writings that read, "O company of jinn, servants of the names," they would find the walls bleeding letters again. Omar was writing in his hidden diary about the doctor: "The doctor writes reports, but I see the paper burn before he even touches it, and the hospital has become trapped inside my world."

One foggy night, Yassin took advantage of the chaos in the hospital and slipped into the isolation ward. The closer he got, the more the clock in the corridor ticked backward with an audible sound. He peered through the keyhole and saw Omar sitting in the middle, a dark figure behind him controlling him like a puppet. Omar turned to Yassin, his pupils dilated, and Yassin heard a voice in his mind saying, "You've come at the right time, Yassin... The gate I opened in the Azbakia wall needs new energy, and Qutb al-Din, who inhabits the walls of this room, has been waiting for centuries! At that moment, Yassin felt a cold hand touch his neck, the door vanished, the walls began to close in, and laughter from dozens of throats erupted from every corner.

The next morning, they found Yassin unconscious in front of the room's door. When they went inside, they didn't find Omar. The room was empty and locked from the outside, but on the ceiling, there was a page from the book etched in fresh blood that read: "We have moved on." Since that day, Yassin has been in a state of shock, repeating only one sentence to everyone who asks him: "The book is no longer in Azbakeya... the book is everywhere, breathing in the walls, moving in the darkness, waiting for someone to open it again!"
