"Where am I?

"How did I get here?"

The thoughts ran through his mind as Alex woke up in the pitch-black void he found himself within. In the distance was a small glimmer of a reddish light that drew him to its aura in the dark. Once he had arrived, the light came from the stairway that only went down. Without objection and the only insight to his current predicament, Alex chose to go down those steps. Each step bringing only more questions. The walls felt like they were closing in and at the end of this was a large door. The heat radiated off from the door brought a sense of calm, yet unease as this strange place was still new. With a long deep breath, the door was opened. The bright light enveloped him, hot and blinding. His eyes closed tight taking time to see the new place.

"Where is this place?" he wondered gazing about the new terrain that was before him. Before he could say another word the sounds of whispered filled the air. inaudible yet in multiple. They drew from far, but closing in quickly, shadows came from all directions quickly bring the light back to darkness like a tsunami of darkness ravages and draining the light in its path. Alex began to run back towards the door, but it was for naught as the darkness pulled him in.

The next memory was a blurred vision motion. The sounds of wheels turning, rubber pressing onto the floor underneath brought the realization that he is now in a wheelchair. Looking around he could only make out the hospital name from the nametag of the nurse, "Dream University Hospital." With a blink, he found himself in a bed, weak and unable to move. In the background, he could hear the sobbing of a female and another male voice trying to calm.

"I know that it must be a difficult time for you, but once your father has his operation, this painful time will be only a dream." The voice spoke to the female. The daughter still somber accepted and left the room. The male turned around and the questions piled on further. He knew that face, but why is that face there?

"That's me! Why am I seeing myself in the third person? This can't even be considered an out-of-body experience. I'm in someone else's body!" Alex thought to himself as he tries to understand what is happening.

"You have such a lovely daughter there Mr. Peters." Dr. Alex spoke.

"Mr. Peters? He's no longer alive. Is this a memory of what happened?" Alex thought for a moment, the inquisitive suddenly turned into the fearful as he knew what was about to happen.

"It's a shame that today is the last day she would ever see you alive and suffering." Dr. Alex said. Dream Hospital had a secret motto. "The incurable should go quickly and peacefully. By the knife or by the needle." It was Mr. Peters's turn this day to be sent peacefully. Before Alex could see the event again, a light enveloped him again.

"Sir! Sir! Can you hear me?" The blurred shadow above him was illuminated by the red light that turned green from the traffic light behind him. Alex started to come to, but his body felt numb and weak as he laid there on the stretcher as he was being pushed into the ambulance. "We have a pt MVA en route to Dream Hospital." The EMA stated as Alex began to lose consciousness and awakening in a dark place staring around.
