The Haunting of St. Mary's Monastery

According to the legend, the monks on Why Island accept a new novice candidate each year and admit them to the monastery. It is said that the island is cursed, and that the monks must do everything they can to appease the spirits that haunt it. The ceremony for accepting a new novice candidate is an important part of this ritual.

The island is located off the coast of Maine, and is only accessible by boat. The journey to the island is treacherous, and many boats have been lost at sea attempting to reach it. The island is also shrouded in fog most of the time, which adds to its eerie atmosphere.

The ceremony for accepting a new novice candidate begins at midnight on the night of the full moon. The candidate must make their way to the island alone, and spend the night in the monastery's chapel. If they survive until morning, they will be accepted as a novitiate and will be allowed to join the monastery.

But there is something strange about the island. Those who have spent the night in the monastery's chapel report hearing strange noises and seeing shadows moving across the walls. Some claim to have seen ghostly apparitions, while others report feeling an overwhelming sense of dread.

One year, a young man named David was chosen to be the new novice candidate. He had always been fascinated by the stories of the monks on Why Island, and was thrilled to have been chosen to join them. He set out for the island on a clear night, feeling confident and excited about the ceremony.

As he approached the island, however, a thick fog descended, obscuring his view of the shore. He struggled to navigate his boat through the fog, and eventually ran aground on the rocky coast of the island.

David managed to make his way to the monastery's chapel, which was located at the top of a steep hill. He was exhausted and disoriented from his journey, but he knew he had to stay alert if he was to survive the night.

He took a seat in the chapel and waited for the ceremony to begin. As the minutes ticked by, he began to feel increasingly uneasy. The shadows in the chapel seemed to be moving, and he heard strange whispering voices coming from the walls.

Suddenly, he felt a cold breath on the back of his neck. He spun around, but there was no one there. He felt a presence in the chapel, something malevolent and dangerous.

David tried to leave the chapel, but the door was locked. He was trapped inside with whatever was lurking in the shadows.

As the night wore on, David heard more and more strange noises. He saw ghostly apparitions moving across the walls, and felt a cold hand on his shoulder. He knew he was not alone in the chapel.

At last, morning came, and the door to the chapel was unlocked. David stumbled out, pale and trembling. The monks congratulated him on surviving the night, but he knew he could never stay on Why Island.

David left the island as soon as he could, but the memory of that night haunted him for the rest of his life. He never forgot the malevolent presence he had felt in the chapel, and he knew that the monks on Why Island were not what they seemed.

The legend of the cursed island lives on to this day, and those who dare to venture there risk encountering the same terror that David experienced.
