"The Fruit of the Earth: The Forbidden Gift"

We were never intended to witness the treasures, secrets, and ancient energies hidden beneath the soil for reasons that are incomprehensible to us. I discovered this in the most terrifying way possible when a magician gave me a fruit with the promise that it would show me what was hidden beneath the ground. He cautioned me that the power of the fruit should not be underestimated because it came at a cost much greater than the value of any treasure.

I had never seen fruit like this before. Its skin glowed iridescently, vibrating slightly as though it were alive. With a smile that never quite made it to his eyes, the magician gave it to me. "This fruit," he remarked, "will reveal to you the earth's interior. But take note of this warning: if you use the secret words, never cease reciting them; else, the repercussions will be unimaginable.

I didn't give his statements much thought at first. How could a mere fruit cause harm? I doubted the stories I had heard about magical artifacts were more than fairy tales. I felt the weight of its promise in my hand as I took the fruit, yet my curiosity overcame me.

The ground underneath me appeared to stir when I touched the fruit to the ground. I closed my eyes and spoke the odd words—words from no language I knew—that the magician had murmured to me. The air changed as soon as I started. I could feel the things buried deep under the soil, which was living beneath me. When I opened my eyes, I saw the earth change, the soil exposing treasures that had been hidden for millennia, including water and veins of metals, diamonds, and valuable minerals, each more exquisite than the last. The colors were brilliant, glowing, and alive, unlike anything I had ever seen.

I was enthralled with the beauty of it all for a time. I was astounded by the glittering pools of water that appeared to pulse with an inner light, the rich veins of gold, and the diamonds that gleamed in the dark earth. I had the impression that I had discovered a hidden realm that had long been concealed from the public. However, the air became thicker and more charged with an odd, unpleasant force with every treasure I caught a glimpse of.

Then I heard it. A guttural, deep roar. It reverberated in the air around me, echoing through the trees. My heart thumping in my chest, I froze. I initially believed it to be a wind-related trick, but the sound became clearer and louder. Unmistakable in its might and rage, it was a roar.

Abruptly, the earth shook beneath me, and people started to move out of the darkness. Ghostly animals with translucent, shimmering forms—elephants, tigers, lions, and snakes—rose from the shadowy nooks and crannies of the planet. Their roars were deafening in the jungle silence, and their eyes glowed with an unearthly hunger as they surrounded me. As they watched me, waiting for the time when I would stumble, when I would stop saying the words, I could feel the coldness of their gaze.

I kept thinking about the magician's warning: They'll take you if you stop. They will tear you to pieces if you falter. My voice was steady yet trembling as I proceeded to pronounce the phrases while holding the fruit firmly in my hand. The monsters sprang for me, their spectral shapes nearly real in the faint illumination, but each time they approached, they halted, as though they were being held back by an unseen power. Even though I could sense their anger and hunger, I was helpless to stop talking.

I became increasingly aware that these creatures were not real as I continued to recite. They were phantoms created from the darkest secrets of the planet, sent to try me and serve as a reminder that certain knowledge had a very high price. The earth's produce was not intended to be taken carelessly. There was a reason they had been hidden.

It seemed like days, yet it was just hours. My voice was getting hoarse from exhaustion, yet I was unable to stop. The spirits would tear me to pieces if I didn't continue. I saw more and more as I went forward, including metals, water, and priceless diamonds, each one more exquisite than the last. However, the animals stayed still, never getting too far away, observing, and waiting.

At last, I was at my breaking point. The desire to explore more and discover all of the earth's hidden gems became intolerable. I briefly thought about quitting as I felt the weight of the fruit in my hand. Then I recalled the magician's warning: They'll take you if you stop.

I forced myself to keep going by closing my eyes and concentrating on the words. I could feel the weight of the earth's secrets crushing against my soul and the strength of the fruit pulsing through me. I had to continue. I had to see everything.

The dream that had been disturbing my sleep finally came to me at that moment. Dark and twisted, a jungle with dangerous shadows. There was a huge, shining gold bar in the middle of that forest, just ready to be claimed. I knew right then that I needed to locate it. I couldn't disregard the dream because it had guided me.

My dream took me to a remote location far from home—a jungle tucked away in the middle of nowhere, where no one dared to venture. It was a bleak, deserted area of land that appeared to reverberate with silence, the space between my house and the bush. The trip was lengthy, and as I navigated the woods, I could feel the weight of the earth's secrets bearing down on me. However, I was adamant. I would take the gold bar that was waiting for me.

I located the location when I got there. The soil was rich with the promise of treasure and the dirt was soft. My hands trembled with excitement as I delved. And I discovered it there, below the surface—a massive, shining bar of gold in the faint light.

However, as I reached for it, an odd thing occurred. As soon as the sun struck the bar, it started to descend more into the ground. As though the earth itself had reclaimed it, the gold bar seemed to disappear before my eyes and sink into the ground no matter how hard I tried or how much I dug.

I made a valiant effort to find it, but to no avail. It had been taken by the earth. Once shining brightly in my hand, the fruit now appeared to be losing its strength as the treasure was gone. After that, it vanished. As though they had never been there, the fruit, the gold bar, and the ability to see beneath the surface of the ground had all vanished. The consequences of my actions weighed heavily on me as I stood there and stared at the barren ground.

I had been avaricious, pursuing something that was never supposed to belong to me. And I had lost everything in the process.

I became aware of the fruit's actual cost at that point. I had learned about the earth's blessings, but I had also learned about the perils of greed. Some knowledge was best left buried, and some things were never meant to be found.

At that time, I discovered that there is no shortcut to success or fortune that can be achieved through magic or theft. It results from putting forth effort, working hard, and creating something by hand.

Therefore, I selected a new route and turned away from the fruit and the desire of wealth and gold. One that was constructed using my own strength rather than the earth's secrets.
