With Halloween just around the corner, I'm sure we're all coming up with fantastic things to do to celebrate. With many people being fully vaccinated, there's a chance that most people will celebrate in-person. On the other hand, some people aren't fully vaccinated or are unvaccinated and can't celebrate in-person for whatever reason. Or some people are just too anxious and not ready to celebrate in-person just yet. Everyone will be celebrating Halloween differently this year. Some parents are eager to take their children trick-or-treating and some aren't for whatever the case may be.

While extroverts and "party animals" are keen on celebrating Halloween in-person, there is the bunch that are not keen on attending Halloween parties or going to haunted houses where they're be around too many people. These people are the introverted ones who loves to either have small parties or spend time by themselves. That being said, there are some people in the middle and will do what they think will be the most fulfilling during Halloween.

For those of you who are thinking of hosting a small party or rather "solo" party, I encourage you to check out this list of six awesome Halloween party ideas!

1. Have a Halloween movie party (with a small group of people or on your own)

Watching movies can be a fantastic thing to enjoy with friends, family or on your own on a holiday like Halloween. Autumn nights can be quite chilly, so it makes it more fun to curl up and watch one of your favourite Halloween movies. Or you can find a brand new horror movie that you have yet to watch! Spooky and Halloween-friendly films such as Beetlejuice, Hocus Pocus, Let the Right One In, Gremlins and Carrie are a few of the movies that I've watched over the years and would recommend watching. Just grab some popcorn and drinks, get comfy and enjoy a movie night at home!

2. Bake some delicious Halloween treats to eat and keep!

Personally, there is no such thing as a fantastic Halloween party without some tasty treats to make, have, buy and eat! Some people are not cooks, so they prefer buying Halloween delicacies like candies, store-bought snack cakes and a bag of chips. On the other hand, some people love cooking and baking and wouldn't mind baking some great Halloween desserts like Ghost-Shaped Cookies, Candy Corn Chocolate Chip Cookies, Monster Eyeball Cookie Pops, Brownie Brittle Peanut Butter Cookie Ghost Cups, Monster Brownie Pizza and many others to investigate both online and in other physical cookbooks! Make some and share them with your family and friends, or indulge on some if you're home alone. If you're willing to do something generous, give some of your homemade Halloween goodies to people on the streets or an elderly neighbour you have a connection with. Pair them with one of your favourite warm beverages like hot chocolate, tea, coffee or pumpkin-spiced latte.

I'll post a few of the recipes for you to access at the bottom!

3. Play some Halloween-inspired board/video games (multiplayer or solitaire)

Avid gamers will always be avid gamers, even if it's Halloween. Whether you love video games, mobile games, and/or board games, Halloween is the perfect time to get your game face on! If you have kids in the house, host a little family game night. You could also invite a few of your friends over and play some games, or you can find some solo games if you want to spend Halloween by yourself. Kid-friendly Halloween board games such as Ghost Blaster, Booooo-Opoly, Goosebumps: The Board Game and Cauldron Quest are some options to look into.

Other Halloween board games like The Haunted Mansion, Arkham Horror and Villainous are also good options for older kids and adults. If you're looking to play any multiplayer/solo Halloween-themed video games, there are tons of websites you can visit. You can also find a ton of free games on your mobile phones. I'll send you all the links to the websites and apps down below.

4. Read some scary stories

If the night is cold enough to stay home, that means it's the perfect time to hibernate and read a good Halloween-friendly story of your choice! If you have young kids in the house, having a family reading night can be a perfect way to celebrate Halloween and bond with your children after a long week of work. Children's Halloween stories like The Happy Pumpkin, The Berenstain Bears: Happy Halloween and Ten Flying Brooms are possible ones to borrow from your local library, purchase online or at a bookstore or download on your electronic devices. iPads and tablets are amazing electronic devices for downloading and reading books.

For older kids and adults, this may be something you want to do by yourselves, as opposed to reading with your parents and/or younger siblings. If you have a huge home library with at least a few Halloween-friendly books, read one or some of those at home. If you want to purchase or borrow some, that's also a great idea! Please check out GoodReads if you need any book recommendations!

All you need is a pair of pajamas/cozy clothes, your favourite hot beverage and you're good to go!

5. Play some music and dance in your costumes

Music is one of the best and most popular party additions! I believe that a party without music is “awful”. Dancing is also a fun party activity! On Halloween, you can have a small dance party in which you and your guests dance to some great Halloween-friendly tunes in your costumes! There doesn’t need to be food, but non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages would enhance the experience! If you want to have a solo dance music, have at least have one of your favourite drinks, put your headphones on and dance in your bedroom or anywhere in your home. If you have a pet, your pet can be your guest! You can wear your costume, house clothes or pyjamas. It’s all up to you!

6. Do a Halloween-themed jigsaw puzzle

Puzzles are one of the greatest household activities, whether it’s a holiday or not! Although it’s not really common for people to do puzzles on Halloween, it can be a great thing to enjoy if you’re celebrating Halloween alone or with a small group of “puzzlers” who could be your friends and/or family members.

Fantastic puzzle brands like White Mountain, Ravensburger, Cobble Hill and MEGA Puzzles have some Halloween themed puzzles that you can purchase online or at your local toy/hobby store. All you need to do is set your puzzle table and wear your cozy clothes and you’re good to go! Even though food/beverages aren’t necessary for this specific Halloween activity, it could be a bonus of you’re having some guests over or if you’re at home alone and you’re hungry and/or thirsty!
