The App That Shows Deaths

An unknown app appears on his phone… and starts predicting real deaths.

By Blackwood StoriesPublished 5 months ago • 2 min read

It started on a normal night when everything felt ordinary.

Ali was scrolling through random websites when a strange pop-up appeared on his phone. It had no ads, no branding, just a black screen with a single line:

“Install LifeCount – See Time Before It Ends.”

He hesitated for a moment, then laughed. Probably another scam app. But curiosity is a dangerous thing when you're bored.

He installed it.

The app was strange from the beginning. No login, no signup, no settings. Just a dark interface with one sentence:

“Syncing your life data…”

A few seconds later, it opened.

A list appeared.

It showed names.

His heart skipped—but then he noticed something even worse.

Next to each name was a countdown timer.

24:00:00

23:12:44

18:45:09

Ali frowned. “What is this supposed to be?”

He checked the names. Some were people from his contacts. Friends, cousins, even coworkers. It looked like a random joke.

He closed the app and ignored it.

But the next morning, everything changed.

While having breakfast, his phone buzzed with a breaking news notification.

“Local man found dead in unexplained circumstances.”

Ali felt a cold wave pass through his body.

He opened the LifeCount app again.

One of the names was gone.

Completely removed.

The timer had hit zero.

His fingers started trembling slightly. He told himself it was coincidence. It had to be.

But the app refreshed.

New timers appeared.

And one name was highlighted in red.

“Hassan — 18:32:10”

Hassan was his college friend.

Ali immediately called him. No answer.

He messaged him. No reply.

By evening, police sirens were reported near Hassan’s apartment building.

Ali didn’t sleep that night.

He kept staring at the app.

The red timer kept ticking down.

Hours passed slowly, painfully.

Then suddenly—at exactly zero—the app flashed.

“Event Completed.”

Ali dropped his phone.

The next morning confirmed it.

Hassan had died in a sudden accident. Witnesses said no clear cause was found.

Ali couldn’t breathe properly anymore.

“This isn’t real… this can’t be real,” he whispered.

But the app didn’t care.

It updated again.

Only one new line appeared.

“ALI — 23:59:59”

He froze.

His own name.

A full 24-hour countdown.

His heart started pounding violently. He tried to delete the app, but it wouldn’t uninstall. Tried restarting the phone, nothing changed. Even factory reset options were locked.

The app only showed one message:

“Time cannot be edited.”

Ali didn’t go to work the next day. He stayed inside his room, curtains closed, phone in hand, watching the timer slowly decrease.

Every second felt heavier than the last.

He started calling everyone he knew, warning them about the app, but nobody believed him. Some thought he was joking. Some ignored him completely.

By night, the countdown reached 02:14:33.

Ali started crying. Not loudly—just silently, staring at the screen.

Then came a notification.

“You are not the first user.”

Another message followed:

“You are just the next update.”

Ali suddenly realized something terrifying.

This app wasn’t predicting deaths.

It was selecting them.

And he was inside the system now.

The timer hit 00:00:10.

Ali stood up, shaking, looking around his empty room.

Lights flickered.

His phone screen went black.

Silence filled the house.

Then—

A final vibration.

No message.

No app.

Just darkness.
