The Truth

The Amityville Horror is a book published in 1977 that inspired movies and the book was inspired by real-life events. The first movie was released in 1979. It has been the subject of controversy and lawsuits over how real it is.

The whole story is centered around this house in Amityville where on November 13, 1974, Ronald DeFeo Jr. killed 6 members of his family. He was convicted of murder in November 1975 and in December of the same year, George and Kathy Lutz and their three children moved into the house. Shortly after moved in they had the house blessed, but 28 days after the family moved in, they claim to have experienced paranormal activity which continued to go on while the family lived there.

When the Lutz family had the house blessed when the first drops of holy water was flicked into the air the priest heard a man voice say "get out." The priest didn't tell the family about the voice until seven days later when he called them on Christmas Eve to advise them to stay out of the second floor. The priest developed a high fever and blisters on his hands similar to stigmata. Like I said, it took 28 days for the family to experience anything weird or paranormal.

So one of the first things that happened was George (the father of the family) wake up at 3:15 AM every morning to check the boathouse. This is weird because 3:15 AM is the time that the murders happened in the house. Flies would be in the house even though it's winter. Kathy (the mama) had a dream about the murders and discovering the bodies. Kathy had the feeling of being hugged by a unseen force. Locks and doors would be damaged by unseen forces. There's so may things that happened so look it up.

In January 1976, they had the house blessed twice more and when they didn't work the family moved out. Once the family moved out, the priest changed his story. The claims of damage to the locks and doors were denied by Jim and Barbara Cromarty who bought it next. Other claims were denied by witnesses or paranormal experts.

This is a fascinating story, dig in further if interested.
