The 10 Best Horror Movies Ever Made

My personal best

Halloween is around the corner and it's time to reflect.

10. The Ring (2002)

People dying seven days after watching a mysterious tape. Yeah, seen that many times. But this movie never fails to amaze; even after watching it 10 times, you will still be creeped out when Samara climbs out of the hole and moves towards the screen. That kid is absolutely terrifying and the movie should not be missed in any horror lover's DVD collection.

9. Wrong Turn (2003)

I remember sitting in the cinema around midnight with three other people and watching this. I was entertained so well that I laughed through half of the movie. Its easy: Have a group of normal people, add a group of not so normal people in a remote area and you have a movie theme that never gets old.

8. 28 Days Later (2002)

What an impressive movie with an incredible Cillian Murphy. He plays a bike messenger that wakes up alone in the hospital after an accident. The world he knew is gone and taken over by terror. He tries to find refuge outside of London with a few survivors but security sometimes is worse than the things you are running from.

Bonus: the deserted London is something you need to see

7. Train to Busan (2016)

I am not a big fan of Asian horror movies. They are often way to creepy or nasty for my taste. Train to Busan on the other hand was such a refreshing and well-made zombie movie. I have watched it several times and it still amazes me.

The plot is easy: A father wants to bring his daughter to Busan and the world is taken over by zombies. The survival begins in this tight space and he soon realises that zombies might be deadly, but they are predictable in comparison to normal people.

6. Warlock (1989)

Julian Sands is just amazing in this one, and it is no wonder that this movie set the ground stone for his career. As the son of the devil travels from the medieval times to today to bring the end of the world, he is followed by a witch hunter. May the best survive.

5. Saw (2004)

Oh boy I was not ready for that movie. Two guys locked in a room with a dead body and the only way to escape is by mutilating themselves.

I remember my best friend screaming and grabbing my arm, which, in the end, left me with a bruise. And she wasn't the only one screaming by surprise.

Wonderful movie, shame that everything that followed was such a step back and cold not compete with the original.

4. I Spit On Your Grave (2010)

Woods, a cabin and a girl that needs some time away from civilisation. Sounds like a dream vacation, if only some idiots didn't come over, rape you all night and leave you for dead in the woods.

But revenge is a bitch.

I cried in the first part of the movie and clapped through the second.

3. Nightmare on Elm Street (1984)

THE classic that does not need many words. Freddy is a legend and is responsible for many many many sleepless nights. So wasJohnny Depp in his white crop top.

2. The Descent (2005)

Like Wrong Turn, this movie combines a group of normal people in a remote area that get attacked by "monsters." The best scene for me is when the broken heroine emerges from a pool of blood and beats the shit out of one of the things. It's such a strong scene and message. Perfect!

1. Dawn of the Dead (2004)

Man, I love that movie. It has everything a good movie needs... Zombies, suspense, jokes and surprise moments.

Since that day, I am always checking where the nearest mall is... Just in case, you know.
