Tall Tale
My hidden subconscious

That wretched clacking in the doorway making my ears tick as I sit in front of my desk jotting down doodles trying to distract my mind, taking in a large breath before pressing my fist into the cold wood of my desk. I stand looking over at the damned doorway, taking the paper into my hand crunching it into a ball. My arm raised ready to toss it as it feels as if my legs will give beneath me.
Slamming hard into the ground on top my knees. My body clinging to stay upright as pain drenches throughout my veins. My eyes clenching shut as it feels as if the ground crumbles under me, the power cracking of the floor crunching under me makes my heart leap.
The crash down feels soft, my fingers grip and start digging into the ground below me as I slowly open a eye to see I am now in some forest. Tremendously huge redwood trees surround me in each and every direction.
There's this heaviness in the air as a fog flows around me wetting my skin lightly with it's subtle mist. I can hear rustling in the distance, like it's dodging between the trees. I press my body down from my knees touching my forearms to the ground trying to stay under the fog.
There's these almost like pale lights hovering up in the trees above me, almost as if the lights are glaring down. I start to slowly crawl towards a trunk of a tree to push myself tight into. I can hear almost low growls that hummed over me.
I try to keep my breathing as calm as possible whilst a piece of bark taps on my shoulder falling from the tree I am leaned against. my heart seems to stop as large nostrils sniff into me. It's mouth droops open wide as is screeches.
Clenching my eyes closed hard I am back on my bedroom floor, I look around as I am sweating profusely. I turn my head to make sure I am safe before standing back up, the paper ball crumbled on the ground. I go to bend to pick it up as I start standing I feel something grabbing my shoulder tightly.
My heart thumbs wildly as I feel the warmth of breathing on my neck as I hear a whisper. "Look into my eyes....."
I clench my eyes tight closed. I spring up in my bed, blood dripping from my nose. 'Shit not again!' I think to myself as I push the blankets off me, tilting my head back as I rush to the bathroom.
Fidgeting the wall for the light switch. The lights flicker on as I find the switch, I walk over towards the sink turning the facet to cold water. My hands cups and splashes the chilled crisp water over my face. I grab for the towel beginning to pat my face dry. I can hear that annoying clanking in the doorway again as I feel something on my shoulder again whispering, "look into my eyes....."
My body jolts, opening my eyes as I hear a man scream, "he's back, we got another alive!" My head is throbbing I can barely make out the flashing lights as I can see someone looking into my eyes with a flashlight, "he's stable for now lets load him in the truck."
They lift me into the cot as they carried me over a shallow hill, I can barely make out my car door pried open. That night I learned some nightmares are too real.
