urban legend
Urban legends have captivated us from ancient eras to the modern day; a deep dive into scary lore and 'could be true' tales about Bigfoot, Slender Man, the Suicide Forest and beyond.
Easter Surprise
Terry was walking past his parent's door when he heard his mothers frustrated exclamation. “I can't believe I have to work all Easter weekend!” she had bemoaned, sitting on the bed as she tried to stop her tears. His father was shaving in the bathroom, and looked like he was only half listening. Terry thought she had probably gotten off easy, since now Dad would have to head the Easter Festivities. He would have to color the eggs, make the rice crispy bunnies, hide the eggs, sneak out the baskets at night, and generally take care of Terry and his sister. His parents would have likely been a little sad to know that at ten their son no longer believed in this things, had, in fact, peaked while his mother set the baskets up last year, but he hadn't breathed a word of it to Laura so she was still excited for the coming of the bunny.

The Haunted House
There was a house in the middle of a quiet suburban neighborhood that had been abandoned for years. Nobody knew why the previous owners had left, but rumors had it that something terrible had happened inside the house. It had been the talk of the town for years, but nobody had ever dared to enter the house, until the Johnson family moved in.

Who Was Bloody Mary?
How to play. This urban legend has different versions of how to play. The way I was introduced to the game was to chant Bloody Mary 13 times in a mirror in a dark room. No matter what version who were taught, one common theme seems to be going into a bathroom with a candle. You turn off the lights, light the candle, and chant a name or phrase. Upon completion, you either see a bloodied woman named Mary (or Kathy or Agnus or etc) or a demon.

Cashmere Botanical Gardens pt 5 High Summer
And that is how I came to be kneeling in the lily pool, the cold nose of Carls shotgun against my spine. I could see little between my wet bangs other than the Pale Lady as she looked down on the five of us as though we were a show put on for her amusement. Carl didn’t hold me cruelly at gunpoint, but I was hardly in any position to thank him. The creatures arrayed around us, the Brandylou, I supposed, looked on with interest, but I had eyes only for the lady. I hadn’t much cared for the phrase “Meat from my table” and I felt pretty sure I was about to discover more than I ever wanted to.
