The sound of an alarm woke Tom up from his sleep. He sighed and rolled over to reach out for his phone to hit snooze. As he opened his eyes, confusion hit. That wasn't the sound of his phone alarm, he thought. That alarm was something different.

I have a sprit in my room at my parent's house. His name is Billy Ghost, and he's not harmful in the slightest, but he is super annoying. He would always change the direction of air flow on my air conditioner to blow on me after I turned it the other way. Like I said, super annoying, how did Billy come into my life you may ask, well, I'm not 100% sure on that, but I do have a theory or two.

It was a clear beautiful morning in Mexico and two brothers were eagerly awaiting the end to another long week. All day they kept thinking of what fun they would have after their hard days work was done and the best idea they had was to go and have a beer at the local cantina. Of course, this is what they did every Friday night and it seemed to fit the bill but this night was one that would remain burned in their memory forever.

“Can you hear that?” I ask her, rolling over in bed. “Hear what?” she replies, eyes all sleepy beauty, reflecting the dying flame of the still-burning candle in the window as it flickers and finally fades.

Ok, so I know the title sounds sensational, but it isn't meant to. It's something that seems to only happen in the parking lot of our new apartment off & on for over a month. Let me explain. I have experienced both these "children" & adult-size beings alike. They both looked similar when I lived in the south. At first, they do incite fear. a Gutteral fight or flight response. While I believe those instincts are put there for self-preservation, sometimes they are a reflex from trauma or they get in the way, at least for me personally. Mind you, I don't feel fear like most either. My fight or flight is something I am very familiar with so I know how to decipher when I should leave a place, when it is a fear from trauma, a warning about a place or person, or if I am going to have to become angry to energetically/physically defend myself. Maybe that is also because I do a lot of meditation & I am psychic so I have senses most don't have or use. I use my intuition to know what to do & how to react. If something is otherworldy & I feel one of these reactions, I usually become defensive, angry, or depending on the location I will just leave. I do not prefer to have a confrontation with anyone or anything on this side or the other. My preference is to be diplomatic. However, occasionally, I have to handle a situation & this is one of them. The new apartment we moved into about 6 months ago is just right for us. Cute, affordable, comfortable with neighbors that tend to keep to themselves & are polite when interacting. The complex isn't huge so there are only a few people that live in it. The neighborhood we live in is kind of in-between suburban & urban. We live on the side of the local city that is older. We are about 30 minutes from the mountains also. I know my apartment is haunted but I don't mind it, I find ways to coexist with what lived here before us. Things move from time to time but nothing is broken & it doesn't cause an issue. I can communicate with these things without anything outside my intuition (no tarot, ouija boards, etc). The parking lot to our apartment is on the smaller side, meant for only residents to park in. This is where the issues are. My husband was taking the trash out one Saturday morning & all of a sudden rushed inside, locking all the door locks in a hurry. He looked freaked out & I asked him what happened. He said there was a small woman in the parking lot just wandering around & he got a bad feeling immediately. I let it go & just told him to stay inside. I looked out the window & yes, I saw a physical woman in the parking lot but I never saw her face or eyes. So he delayed taking our pup out until a little later. Our pup also has insane spidey senses. She always knows when something is "off"... the only time she barks or growls, which is rare, is because there is a threat present. My husband said our pup (she is full-grown by the way and a fairly large dog) hid behind him,(which is what she tries to do when she encounters something or someone she doesn't like and we are handling it) because as it turned out, the woman was still in the parking lot & this was after dark. She asked him questions about the apartment complex like how would she go about renting an apartment here, how much it is a month, how to contact the landlord etc. She kept boasting about how much she loved the look of the complex & would love to live here. Then, out of nowhere, she makes the statement, "I am dressed appropriately. I am fully dressed. I did what I was supposed to. I have clothes on." Then she goes on to tell him how she isn't trying to be inappropriate around him, she doesn't mean anything out of the way, etc. She asked what our dog's name was & tried to pet her. My husband told her to please not touch the dog because she is a service animal. She kept asking him if he knew where a specific road was in our city. He told her he didn't know. He came in, once again, freaked out & locked all of the locks on the door. I asked him again what was wrong & he said she was still outside. I opened the door this time, I was going to go outside & speak to her. He stopped me & asked me not to, that he thought maybe she was just on drugs or had mental issues. He said he got a bad feeling every time he has seen her. The only person she ever seemed to approach was my husband. I am not ok with this, at all. I am also not afraid to speak or confront someone/something when it comes to my husband & people I care about. I respected his request & stayed inside. (It should be noted that there is a POSTED no trespassing sign on the property.) A month or two went by & no more odd encounters aside from Jehovah's Witnesses with the occasional political person. Mind you, those people won't speak to me, ever. They always speak to my husband. Then, last Thursday, my husband was taking out our pup early in the morning, like he always does before work. It was still dark out because the seasons are also changing. I felt a sudden jolt of something feeling "wrong" while he was outside. He came in with our pup & locked all the locks in a hurry. I asked him what happened. He said this SAME woman was sitting on our next-door neighbor's porch, in their chair, reading the yellow pages book that has the listings for local businesses. She never looked up at him but she did ask if he knew where a certain road was in our city, the same road she had asked about the last time he saw her. He told her he didn't know. Then she asked him if he knew what time it was and of course, he didn't because he was half-awake. He explained that the reason he locked all the locks was that he had a feeling she was going to ask to come inside. Had she followed him in, I would have handled it. I went to the door & opened it to look on the neighbor's porch. Normally I wouldn't bother anyone or go outside to someone else's porch that early in the morning but those particular neighbors are elderly & I don't play when it comes to older people & kids. Just as I opened the door & went outside, I realized she was nowhere to be seen but there was a Sprite bottle left on their porch (though my husband insisted that it had been there for a couple of days, I had never noticed it). Now here are the "odd" details. According to some lore about black-eyed people, sometimes when they show up, the person that seen them becomes sick OR a family member gets sick or dies. To me, this might imply that black-eyed people are harbingers of death like a reaper. Coming to warn you that someone is going to pass & this wouldn't be my first experience with a being that warns me of death. The difference is, is that this encounter happened to my husband most recently, around his birthday. He is not sick, our day-to-day life is pretty much how it has been BUT my dad (who is 3000 miles away) got severely sick the same day my husband had his latest encounter with this woman. (I received a phone call this morning from my mom, telling me dad has gotten worse & is now in the hospital with renal kidney failure... they have no idea what is wrong with him. I started putting two and two together today). I am not trying to imply that she somehow harmed my dad but more so might have been warning us. She wasn't ever actually rude or inappropriate to my husband. She never threatened him but he did say that she "felt" threatening. The times I had previously had this encounter with something similar to this woman, they won't ever approach me. They won't talk to me. All but one encounter it seemed as if they didn't realize I was standing there (I have seen them in different locations just standing there, talking to someone else, or walking away). The one encounter I had with one that acknowledged me, it just stood there, about ten feet away, & stared. At this point, I am pretty sure I know what that woman is. I am also sure that I have come up with a plan. After dark, I am going outside with my husband when he goes. If I encounter her, I am going to give her directions to the road she keeps looking for and if she only approaches my husband, he is going to give her directions (we did google the road name and it is a road close to where we live). I hope this woman can move on or go to where she is trying to get to and one day it will just be another one of my weird stories lol. I am hoping this doesn't come down to a full-fledged confrontation because well, I am far from scared of anything like her.
It will come back on you

When I was little, I used to keep a bag packed with my favorite belongings next to my window. I wanted to be prepared if a fire broke out. I had a checklist for how I would react in a scenario where an intruder broke into the house. Hiding the kitchen knife set was at the top of the list. At night, I would go around the house to make sure doors and windows were locked. I had a lot of fears as a child. My fears were all tangible, rational, so that I could reason out how I would defeat or outsmart potential threats. It never occurred to me that the really scary things where outside of the realm of logic.

Today was just a regular day or so I thought, waking up to a cool fall day with my window slightly cracked feeling the fresh breeze on me. I decided to visit a friend of mine. I’ve never been to his house before so I had to look up directions, his house was a casual walk away from the subway. I was taking a lot of turns onto new streets hoping I haven’t gotten myself lost and could remember the way back before it got dark. I could hear the loud rustling leaves underneath my feet. I finally found the correct street and my mind was at ease, as I came closer to the house, I walked up the steps and rung the doorbell. I waited for a few and I found that my friend was not at home. I was surely disappointed. I started heading back from the same direction I had came from. I remember him telling me about a new club near his house, I thought I might as well check it out, since now I had the time to spare. Now it was starting to get darker the more I walked the colder it was getting. I finally found the exclusive club, I could see its small brick building, It did not have a sign out front, as if it didn’t want to be known. Hoping it would have an intimate setting inside. I opened its doors and alas I was right the place was nearly pitch black. A few dim white lights that made it seem so mysterious, there was hardly any sound coming from the place even though there were people drinking at the bar, there was a stage, at which a band was getting ready to play. I walked over to the bar, I noticed a small group of interesting people, I walked over to them and complimented one girl on her outfit, which was like a one piece silver jumpsuit that had a zipper, unzipping all the way down in the front leading to her hips. They all looked at me at the same time, she smiled and said thanks. As she smiled back at me I noticed her teeth were long, sharp fangs. I said to her "Oh my you must be a vampire." She softly said "yes I am." I wasn’t afraid at all, it's as though it was a natural thing. She wanted to show me her fangs. She allowed me to touch them. She was with two of her friends, a girl and a guy. She asked me if I wanted to come back to her place and I kindly said yes. As if I was under a little trance. I noticed they all had this special unique looking septum ring almost a hook like. I asked about it, and she told me. "It is ancient, it is a very important necessity for vampires to wear this, we have to wear this in the daylight it allows us to bear sunlight, and we can take it off when it becomes nightfall, but some like to wear it all the time, it is a symbol of the old times. If we didn’t wear it in the sunlight we would die." She was so open and honest with me, telling me these vampire secrets. As we were walking back to her house, the others were extremely quiet. We approached her house, her house was a greenhouse, she loved plants. She offered me a glass of wine, she jokingly said it wasn’t blood, only wine. These vampires really liked their alcohol. They were in their mid to late twenties, well human years at least. It suddenly got quiet, she said she wanted to ask me a serious question. She asked me if I would like to become a vampire. Wow I said I thought about it quite a few times in my life, thinking what if would be like to live forever, I was taking deep breaths, it was surely a life changing decision, thinking about it in a positive way. That’s all I said, a few minutes passed. She told me she hadn’t turned anyone into a vampire yet and it was her time to do so. She wanted me. I still wasn’t scared. I felt some kind of aura of goodness surrounding me. I guess it was something I wanted to. She could tell I was leaning towards it, almost ready to tell her my answer. But I didn’t have to answer. I didn’t have the time to answer. That guy who was with us just standing there rushed towards me in a swoop of a second, I thought he was going to bite my neck but he didn’t, instead he forcefully grabbed me, grabbed me by the arm, rolled up my sleeve, by this moment I was frightened, not ready for it to happen so fast. But vampires are so dramatic. It all happened so fast he bit my wrist so hard, she was just standing there watching me, knowing what was happening, because she had been through it before. I was looking at her while he was sucking all of my blood out of my body, all I could see was red everywhere, and then all of a sudden I saw pitch black, that’s when I knew my body was dying, It felt like my body had left itself. That’s when she walked over to me and put a drop of her blood into my wrist, the final touch that would make me a complete undead vampire. I stood up, there was no more pain, as I stood up I could feel my vampire fangs grow in, she said here you need blood since you don’t have any anymore. I took her wrist and sucked her blood into my mouth, and it was good. I told her I wanted more, and she said soon my dear, it lasts you a while. She was my maker, she loved me. She pierced my nose and said this is yours now, you deserve it, wear it proudly, it hurt for a second, still had a slight human emotion left, but that would change all in time. I learned that they were psychic vampires, they could communicate with each other using their minds, that’s why they were always so quiet, they were talking to each other inside their minds telepathically. They also use energy and the capability of reading humans minds, so they knew I wanted to be a vampire so they took action quickly.

So my friends you have come back for more. It is a joy to see you again. I told you last time that there is so much more to this tale, and if you take a walk with me I will be glad to tell it to you. I told you that our tale began in the woods, but for now let us leave these woods behind. For this journey we will need to walk between two worlds, one that was and one this is. Once there was a small path cut deep by wagon wheels the path leads deeper into the woods to the east, but we must trace the path to the west. Just outside the woods was a meadow, once deer grazed on the grass, the flowers were endless. Now as all things succumb to time and as it must be man feels he has to change thigs. This once nice meadow with grass growing as high as the eye, is now a park. At the far end of it a baseball field has been build, and at the other end swing, slides, and a few other things for kids to play on. When school is out at this park one could hear the crack of a bat hitting a ball, the squeak of swing chains, and the babble of kids. At night the teens would hang out smoking stolen cigarettes, and drinking beer. Now this park is grown over no one plays there anymore. The woods has claimed it as one of it's many victims.

Once upon a time, in a land far, far away lived a mystical enchantress. The way of her life was unknown to the villagers, as she resided deep in the woods as far as she could manage to seclude herself. The villagers would tell their children tales of children that would go missing once they ventured into the woods in order to keep them from wandering too far into the Evergreens. The tales kept the children safe, yet every once in awhile adult males would randomly go missing. Most figured that those who vanished met their fate with a bear or another beast of the woods failing to truly believe in the tales they told their young ones.
