The Exorcee
Chapter Five As I mentioned earlier, luck tends to play a fairly large part in my investigations. I would be more inclined to call it Grace or Providence but for the fact that the luckier I get at tracking demons, the more time I get to spend face to face with demons. (Thanks, Lord. No really, thanks a lot.) It took me barely two hours to find Norman Grey the first time around, and a good deal of the credit goes to fortune or fate or whatever you like to call it; but even fate needs room to work, and it’s our job to create that room by clearing away irrelevancies. In the present case, that meant eliminating reports of meth-heads and psychopaths from my vigilant surveillance of the airwaves.

A Horrible Night
Although it started out as a normal evening, I had no idea that it would end up being one of the most terrifying nights of my life. A storm was brewing on the horizon as the wind howled outside, rattling the windows with eerie persistence. I was alone at home, reading a book while curled up on the couch. I was hoping to pass the time until sleep came. The lights then flickered. A moment later, they went out completely. Darkness swallowed the room, and an unsettling silence followed, broken only by the distant rumble of thunder. As I reached for my phone, I discovered that the battery was almost dead, making my heart race. The fear crept in. I was shaken to my core by a sudden creak coming from upstairs. The house was old, but that noise was different—too deliberate to be just the house settling. My thoughts were racing with terrifying possibilities. Was I truly alone?

Beneath the Surface
The ocean’s inky depths have always held secrets that defy human understanding, and on a moonless night, the research vessel Mariana’s Echo embarked on a journey that would forever alter its crew. Dr. Elise Monroe, a marine biologist with a penchant for the macabre, had uncovered an ancient maritime legend: a colossal, unknown creature said to lurk beneath the ocean’s surface—a beast so elusive that even folklore shivered at its name.

I always knew I would die in a shower. . Content Warning.
I feel as if the comforting, warm water pouring down upon me is a false sense of security. I always feel as if something is lurking nearby. I come up with scenarios in my mind all of the time— maybe a serial killer broke into the house and my loved ones are dead. Maybe the shower will overflow and I, unable to escape, will drown. Perhaps the shower will become sentient and strangle me alive. As preposterous as these might sound, they are the thoughts that flow my head each and every day.

Horror Story
It was the middle of the month of Ashadh, but it wasn't raining much this time. I was sitting in our roof room and watching the sky outside. At that moment, I heard footsteps on the stairs and looked back to see Puhul entering the room. He appeared and said, "Come quickly. Aranyadadu has come. He asked me to call you." Aranyadadu was actually Patai's grandfather. He was a forest ranger by profession. He had traveled to many places in his long career. He used to come to Patai's house every four months and then he would tell us wonderful stories. When he came earlier, he had told us a wonderful and spooky experience of a landlord's house in Samudragarh.

The Shadows of Birchwood House
**The Shadows of Birchwood House** Birchwood House was empty for years, but that did not stop the rumors. The large, dark house sat just beyond the edge of the little town, a sullen presence looming over the surrounding woods like a ghostly vacant sentinel. Folks would tell of strange noises—creaking floors, muffled whispers, a faint scratching at the windows—even when no one was there. But the most lingering myth involved the shadows.

The Knocking
**The Knocking** It started with a soft knock. At first, she had thought it was the house settling—an old, creaking house out on the outskirts of town. The kind of house where shadows stretched too far and the floor groaned beneath secret weight. She had inherited it from her grandmother, a woman who died whispering warnings that no one heard.

The Exorcee
Chapter Four Pemberley, my little palace, was not necessarily the sort of apartment in which a person of means would live on purpose. It was five floors up in a building with no elevators, freezing in the winter and stifling in the summer. The walls were dingy, the rooms were cramped, and the view from the window was ugly and sad. All of that, however, was handily counter-balanced by one key factor: the shower never ran out of hot water. I’ve spent whole afternoons in that thing. After having my ass handed to me by an evil spirit in the body of an insurance salesman, the wisest course was obviously to sit in the scalding flow by candlelight, crank up some Creedence on my scarred but venerable CD player, and drink Irish whiskey until the pain receptors in my brain shut down.
