An Owl in the Daylight
Today, I saw an owl, and I really, really hated it. I live in the countryside of Jamaica. It’s a very green place. There are trees everywhere, so many trees. We have lots of fruit trees, like mango trees, ackee trees, and apple trees. These trees grow so big and tall. They reach way up into the sky, and their leaves make lots of shade on the ground. It’s usually a very peaceful and happy place to be. I love living here because it’s quiet and full of nature’s sounds, like birds singing in the morning and crickets chirping at night. But today, something happened that made me feel not so peaceful. It made me feel very strange and uncomfortable.

The Terrifying Tale of Mohan Vashini
Thousands of years ago, an ancient and mysterious book was written – a book so powerful that even today, people hesitate to read it. Its name is Uddha Mareshwar Tantra. In it, Lord Shiva speaks directly to Goddess Parvati and reveals a secret so powerful, it could change the course of a person’s life forever – the secret of the 36 Yaksinis. But what is a Yaksini? She is not a ghost, demon, or a deity. She is the spirit of a woman – extraordinarily beautiful, magical, and extremely dangerous. Some Yaksinis can make you unbelievably rich. Some can grant you unlimited knowledge. Some can help you reunite with a lost love. And some can make you fall hopelessly in love with them… forever. However, summoning a Yaksini is never without risk. Each one demands a sacrifice before granting her favor. That is why they are considered so dangerous. Uddha Mareshwar Tantra describes exactly how to summon these spirits using mantras and rituals. Each of the 36 Yaksinis has a different power. Today, we’ll hear the terrifying story of one such Yaksini – Mohan Vashini, the 13th Yaksini, whose powers can trap a person in eternal love. I must warn you – watching this story between 2:30 AM and 3:30 AM is strongly discouraged. During this time, the Yaksini becomes most powerful. --- Ravi was a top anthropology student at Ranchi University, India. Fascinated by tribal legends and myths, he often explored stories of the region’s ancient tribes. One day, while studying in the college library, a beautiful girl named Mohima approached him and they started talking. They shared a mutual fascination with history, legends, and paranormal myths. Soon, meeting in the library became a daily ritual. One day, Mohima told Ravi about a remote village called Tamar, surrounded by dense forests. The villagers never ventured into the forest after dark, as it was said a Yaksini lived in a cave there – the Cave of Love. Local legends warned that any man who entered the cave risked never returning. Ravi, driven by curiosity, decided to investigate despite Mohima’s warnings. Upon reaching the village, he asked about the Yaksini, but everyone grew fearful and avoided him. He learned that in the past 50 years, about 30 men had gone missing – most claimed to have fled, while some vanished deep inside the forest. Searching further, Ravi found the village school library, where old newspaper clippings documented the missing men. Every case had one thing in common: the last time these men were seen, they were alone in the forest after nightfall. While studying, an old man appeared silently in the library. Ravi offered him some food and asked about the Yaksini. At the mere mention of her name, fear flashed across the old man’s eyes. He warned Ravi that no one who sought the Yaksini ever returned. Yet, Ravi persisted. Finally, the old man revealed an ancient book – Uddha Mareshwar Tantra. Ravi began reading and was engrossed for hours, learning about all 36 Yaksinis – how to summon them, how to please them, and how to escape them. He discovered that the Yaksini residing near Tamar village was Mohan Vashini, the 13th Yaksini. She could make anyone fall in true, eternal love with her… but at a price. Anyone who tried to leave her risked their very life. That night, Ravi ventured into the forest with the book. Sitting atop a high cliff, he recited the mantras. A soft humming came from afar, growing closer. Turning around, he saw her – a stunning woman in a red sari, her voice as sweet as a flute. His heart raced. “You summoned me,” she said gently. Ravi, trembling, asked, “Are you Mohan Vashini?” “Yes. And now… you belong to me,” she smiled. The forest seemed to hold its breath. She leaned forward and kissed his forehead. Ravi fainted. The next morning, he woke up in a stone cottage. Outside, birds chirped, and Mohan Vashini lay beside him. She cooked, sang, and served him, entirely devoted. Ravi felt like he was in heaven, forgetting his past and the outside world. Days later, the old man appeared at his door. “Do you remember your mother?” he asked, vanishing immediately. Suddenly, Ravi realized he had forgotten his own name, his past, and his life. Mohan Vashini held his hand, saying, “You are mine.” But Ravi remembered the book – a way to break her spell. That night, when she slept, he quietly escaped. As he ran through the forest, his memories flooded back. He called out his name one last time on a tree, which cracked, bleeding. Mohan Vashini appeared again, screaming, “No one can leave me!” Her form changed into something terrifying. Smoke engulfed the forest, and Ravi fainted. He awoke in a hospital in Ranchi, found by a search team, after 21 days missing. His family and professors were relieved. Months later, he returned to college, sharing his story with Mohima. As she hummed the same tune Mohan Vashini had sung, Ravi realized one chilling truth – escaping a Yaksini’s love is impossible. The legend concludes: If you ever promise your love to a Yaksini, she will never let go.

Japan's Haunted Round Schoolhouse: The Ghosts of Numahigashi Elementary
Of the dozens of haunted sites in Japan, a land that by no means has a shortage of ghostly legend, there is no more tragic history than that of the Round Schoolhouse—Numahigashi Elementary School. It's not a tale of a sudden massacre or an ancient evil curse, but a slow-motion, strangling tragedy born of war, a tale that has soaked into the very concrete of its symbolic round walls.

Wendigone
The teenage boy watched the tall, gaunt creature rummage through the remains of the Happy Crab Chinese buffet. When it reached for yet another dead body, its head disappearing into the buffet, he ran for the woods. The creature pulled its head out at the sound of feet crunching on snow. It pulled out of the buffet and stood at its full height to look over the surrounding area, making it just taller than the buffet. It smiled as it began to move in the boy’s direction, beginning with loping, but it was soon running.
