Terrifier 3 Becomes the Highest-Grossing Unrated Movie Ever
It's always refreshing when, in the era of blockbuster franchises and rated films dominating the box office, a little success story comes along to challenge conventional norms. Especially if this happens to be a little one that dares to break loose from genre expectations. Terrifier 3, the third in a series of horror movies made by Damien Leone, did exactly that. It became the highest-grossing unrated movie of all time, shattering box office records. A Milestone Achievement When Terrifier 3 hit the theatres, not many would have foreseen how well it would do. Not only did it continue the terrifying saga of Art the Clown, but it also broke down barriers in ways that would leave even the most seasoned box office analysts scratching their heads. After surpassing previous unrated movie records, Terrifier 3 made history by claiming the coveted title of the highest-grossing unrated film ever. To date, the film has gathered more than $50 million in worldwide earnings, yet this was produced on the modest budget of a mere few million dollars. This does well to exemplify and showcase the growing power of independent horror film, especially in the market influenced by big-budgeted, strongly marketed films. The emergence of the "Terrifier" franchise The significance of this achievement is such that one has to look into the history of the Terrifier series. In this case, Terrifier, released in 2016, introduced audiences to the menacing mute killer Art the Clown with his penchant for gruesome killings. The movie had earned some notoriety within the independent community, making it a cult with a following for its gut-wrenching gore, visceral atmosphere, and dark humor. While Terrifier was definitely a success with niche audiences, it was its 2022 sequel that really thrust the franchise into wider popularity. 10 Vampire (and Vampiric Creatures) Movies and TV Shows!
1. Nosferatu (1922) Count Orlok (Max Schreck) is a sinister man, or whatever it is, but despite this, there is something sad about the vampire-man. Orlok seems cursed, maybe even diseased — a theme elaborated upon more by Werner Herzog's re-telling of this tale in 1979 (more on that later). It's also fairly common knowledge that "Nosferatu" was almost a lost film, and not just due to random ravages of time. "Dracula" author Bram Stoker's heirs had successfully sued to have F. W. Murnau's film destroyed, but some copies sneakily survived, which is why we can still enjoy this movie today.

REVIEW: Possum
I've been on something of a horror trip lately, catching up not only on recent releases but several from the last few years which I'd never quite got round to watching. Possum is a 2018 film written and directed by Matthew Holness, based on his earlier short story published in The New Uncanny (which I now simply must get hold of and read). If, like me, you know Holness best as his alter ego Garth Marenghi (author, prophet, dreamweaver) then Possum is entirely unlike the kind of horror film you'd expect from him. Garth Marenghi's Darkplace was a ludicrously over-the-top, deliberately hammy, parodic horror series. Possum, in contrast, is utterly humourless. It's quite astonishingly grim and serious in its presentation and subject matter.

Reed Alexander's Horror Review of 'Near Dark' (1987)
Okay, so it's a stretch to call Near Dark (1987) 'Horror.' Just because something has vampires in it, doesn't necessarily make it horror. I mean, True Romance (1993) has pretty much the same premise without vampires, and that's just an Action Romance. It's like my review of World War Z (2013). The Zombies could have been replaced by Terrorists and it would have changed fuck all about the plot. Well, here we could replace Vampires with Rival Gang, or Enemy in a war. It could be the exact same story and nothing would fundamentally change.
