The baby reaches out, and such stability at this young age, especially on the narrow edge of a crib, is highly improbable. The child's cries intensify, leading some to speculate that it may be perceiving a ghostly figure. As the screams peak in terror, the unseen force appears to release its hold, causing the child to fall back into the crib, narrowly avoiding injury, and continuing to cry in distress. While some argue that the entity may be trying to comfort the child due to a lack of adult attention, skeptics claim the video is staged, suggesting that subjecting a child to such distress for the sake of a ghostly hoax is more disturbing than the haunting itself.

Chris reached out via email with an intriguing old photograph of a now-demolished building in Hobart, Tasmania. While exploring archival photographs on the Libraries Tasmania website, he discovered Roxboro House, constructed in 1820. Initially described at auction as a spacious three-story stone residence that would be a charming addition to Hobart Town, the building's fate took a turn for the worse. After its conversion into a hotel in 1834, known as the Golden Fleece, it fell into disrepair and earned the unfortunate nickname "The Rat's Castle," as homeless individuals created entry points in the walls. Tragically, during this time, two infants lost their lives within its confines—one was fatally stabbed, while the other was accidentally killed by an intoxicated mother. The Rat's Castle was ultimately demolished in 1879, and the site was sold to Scottish schoolmaster Alexander Ireland, who oversaw the construction of the current Roxboro House by 1880, with Scotch College attached to the rear. The college operated there until 1900, after which Roxboro House was converted into apartments. The photograph Chris provided depicts the house before its demolition, revealing a man peering out from the top window and bystanders near the front fence. However, the identity of a ghostly figure in the front doorway remains a mystery. Happy Halloween, all! Halloween and the month it falls on are truly the best. The entire month of October is dedicated to the horror genre, and while I believe any day and any month is a good time to enjoy horror, it just seems, well, right when we see it all in October (with one exception being the moments where Treehouse of Horror hits early November). I try my best to get in some good scares, chills, and thrills in October, and that includes this film, The Midnight Hour.

I mentioned Monsters when I wrote a review of an episode of Creepshow, and I remember peeping at this show as early as the age of five. I also remember that this show and Tales from the Darkside aired back-to-back in syndicated reruns, but my attention to Monsters didn't increase until my teenage years. I did learn a few things; for one, the show only lasted three seasons, one less than Tales from the Darkside. Secondly, it debuted after Tales, and third, this series had its share of very interesting villainesses.

Villainess Review: Mrs. Colbert (Tales from the Crypt)
How I loved Tales from the Crypt as a kid, and yes, I'm serious when I say "as a kid." The trend of horror/suspense anthology series continued on as the 1980s concluded, as HBO (during the early years of the network's heyday) delivered with Tales from the Crypt, which premiered on June 10, 1989. Every half hour for seven seasons until the final episode on July 19, 1996, the series delivered a different story which manly focused on horror and suspense, with just a slight bit of humor as well. The host for this series was the "Crypt Keeper," whose voice was provided by the legendary John Kassir for all seven seasons.
