It comes with leaves on the ground, pumpkins, family time, and getting to stay out late! What kid, adult, dog, goldfish, wouldn’t enjoy the fun traditions that Hallows Eve has to offer?! HALLOWEEN, A TIME OF GHOSTS, WITCHES, ZOMBIES AND GHOULS. AT LEAST THAT'S WHAT THEY SAID WHEN I WAS YOUNG. STAY CLOSE TO HOME, DON'T GO FURTHER THAN YOUR NEIGHBORHOOD WHILE TRICK OR TREATING. ITS WHEN THE VEIL IS THINNEST AND THEY WILL COME BACK TO TAKE YOUR YOUTH FROM YOU. YEAH RIGHT, I HEARD THIS YEAR AFTER YEAR, BUT NOTHING EVER HAPPENED. OLD GHOST STORIES TOLD BY THEIR PARENTS. WELL IM 18 NOW AND I'M GOING OUT TO PARTY WITH MY FRIENDS, AND I'M SURE NOT WORRIED ABOUT THOSE OLD GHOST STORIES, IM YOUNG BEAUTIFUL AND NO ONE'S TELLING ME WHAT TO DO ANYMORE. WE WERE MEETING AT THE OLD BARN AT THE EDGE OF TOWN. TOMMY WAS THE CUTEST BOY IN SCHOOL AND HE ASKED ME ( YEAH ME) TO MEET HIM THERE. I WORE MY FAVORITE SHIRT AND TIGHTEST PAIR OF JEANS. NEITHER LEFT ANYTHING TO THE IMAGINATION. I WAS A VIRGIN AND I PLANNED ON GIVING TOMMY MY VIRGINITY TONIGHT. IT'S GOING TO BE A NIGHT TO REMEMBER. WHEN I GOT TO THE BARN THE PARTY WAS IN FULL SWING, CANDLES BURNING, WEIRD SYMBOLS WRITTEN ON THE BARN WALLS AND A STRANGE ODOR IN THE AIR. HALLOWEEN DECORATIONS I'VE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. ANYWAY EVERYONE STARED AT ME AS I ENTERED THE BARN. I STARTED TO BACK OUT WHEN TOMMY RUSHED UP TO ME AND TOOK ME BY THE HAND AND SAID THEY WERE STARING BECAUSE I LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL, THE WERE JUST JEALOUS. I REALLY DIDN'T THINK THAT WAS THE REASON BUT AS LONG AS TOMMY THOUGHT I WAS, WELL WHO CARED. THE MUSIC WAS BLASTING AND EVERYONE WAS GYRATING TO THE MUSIC, TOMMY LEAD ME TO THE BUFFET TABLE WERE THEY HAD A PUNCH BOWL OF RED LIQUID. HE GOT ME A GLASS AND TOOK OUT A LITTLE FLASK AND ADDED IT TOO MY CUP. HE SAID THIS IS SOME OF MY OWN SPECIAL STUFF, YOUR GOING TO LOVE IT. I ASKED WHAT IS IT. HE SAID DON'T YOU TRUST ME? YOUR GOING TO LOVE IT. WELL I DIDN'T WANT TO HURT HIS FEELINGS SO I DRANK IT DOWN. HE FIXED ME ANOTHER ONE AND WE WENT TO SIT ON THE BALES OF HAY. THE MUSIC CONTINUED TO GET LOUDER AND LOUDER AND EVERYONE SEEMED TO DANCE CLOSER AND CLOSER TO ME AND TOMMY. I TOLD HIM I WASN'T FEELING SO WELL. HE JUST SMILED AND SAID JUST LAY BACK AND CLOSE YOUR EYES. EVERYTHING WILL BE OK. I DIDN'T WANT TO CLOSE MY EYES, I WANTED TO GO HOME, BUT I COULD HARDLY MOVE, LET ALONE GET UP. EVERYTHING WENT BLACK, IT FELT LIKE I WAS FLOATING, AND THEN I WAS LAYING FLAT ON SOMETHING HARD. I COULD HEAR CHANTING AND THE MUSIC WAS LOUD AND AND I DIDNT RECOGNIZE IT AT ALL. I KEPT FADING IN AN OUT OF CONSCIOUSNESS. I COULD FEEL THE VIBRATION OF THE MUSIC AND PEOPLES HANDS ON ME, A SHARP EXCRUCIATING PAIN TO MY CHEST AND THEN THERE WAS (NOTHING BUT SILENCE.) I DON'T KNOW HOW LONG I LAYED THERE BUT IT FELT LIKE FOREVER, WHERE WAS EVERYONE, WHERE WAS TOMMY. IT WAS HARD BUT I SAT UP AND NOTICED THE LIGHT COMING THRU THE CRACKS IN THE BARN WALLS. I KNEW I BETTER GET HOME OR MOM WOULD HAVE MY HEAD, SO I STOOD UP, MAN WHAT WAS IN THAT DRINK THAT TOMMY GAVE ME, MY HEAD WAS SPINNING AND I CAN BARELY WALK. SLOWLY I SHUFFLED TOWARD THE BARN DOOR AND HEADED HOME. I HAD TO DO THE WALK OF SHAME THREW TOWN BECAUSE I LIVED ON THE OTHER SIDE. LUCKLY IT'S SUNDAY AND EVERYONE'S IN CHURCH. I WALKED BY THE WINDOW OF THE DRESS SHOP AND NOTICED THIS CRAZY LOOKING MANNEQUIN IN THE WINDOW. HER SHIRT LOOKED LIKE MINE BUT ALL TORE UP AND DIRTY, SAME WITH THE JEANS. WHY WOULD SOMEONE DRESS A MANNEQUIN LIKE THAT. I LOOKED UP AT THE MANNEQUINS FACE. OMG OMG OMG THATS MEEEEEEEEEE. OH MY LORD. HELP ME, WHAT DID THEY DO TO ME, IM SCREAMING IN MY HEAD, HELP ME LORD, BUT THE ONLY THING COMMING OUT OF MY MOUTH IS A MOAN, THEY STOLE MY YOUTH, THE STORY WAS TRUE, OHHH MAMA I SOOO WISH I LISTENED TO YOU..................................................

"So in tasting what we do is take a small amount right off the top, it doesn't take much that's the warmest part right there. Imma invert the spoon, cover all nine thousand tastebuds aerate it, warm it up, driving up that top milk, that cream and pure vanilla, sweetner.. Mmm that's a ten"

Ever since I was little Halloween was one of my favorite holidays. There are a couple of reasons why. Most of them are the typical reasons like just about everyone else. Like dressing up in the costumes and doing all the makeup. Makeup has always been fun for me to do. There are sometimes when can’t decide to be scary or cute. Another reason Halloween is fun to me is because of the haunted houses. Which is sort of weird since everything inside the haunted house does occasionally get me. Even decided that I would never go alone in one. Then started to think and wonder how did Halloween even start? I doubt a lot of people wonder why so then started digging for information soon after that. After doing lots of research this is what I found and the reasons was very interesting. It was actually dated back a long time ago with a certain group of people. There was a lot of information, but with this essay I just wanted to focus on the Celtic people at the time.

The light flickered as I whipped my finger back and forth across the light of the candle in the window and looked out of the foggy glass. It was the night before Halloween and I had decorated the house with dozens of orange candles. They sat on the long dining room table and in the window sills. A ding resonated on my phone while I was deep in thought. "All those candles will burn the house down!" The text appeared from my friend Jackson who was currently walking to my door to pick me up for the Halloween party.

Halloween is my Christmas. It's the most wonderful time of the year, the only month my fiancée can't protest to me watching horror movies every night or critique the fact that the window in our apartment I decorated with fake spider webs and little pumpkins looks out onto a dark alley where no one will even see. So when he casually remarked his work was having a Halloween Party the next weekend, I lit up like a Christmas tree.

The Ghosts of Halloweens Past
This Halloween most definitely won’t be the celebration that has become tradition to us, but that doesn’t mean it has to be lost. Halloween is so much more than mountains of sugar and litres of fake blood, it is spiritual, a little superstitious and a whole lot of fun. If we dive back into its history, coming from the Celtic tradition of Samhain (s-ow-in), we can find some fun, traditional and safe ways to mark the day!

October is by far my favorite time of the year. Not only does it fall on my birthday, it also falls in The Fall. Get it? Okay. I know that’s pretty lame. What I meant was that we’ve survived summer, and the cooler months are ahead of us. Also, drum roll please... HALLOWEEN is right around the corner! My favorite holiday. I don’t care what anyone says, but all of October is Halloween.

Four friends. One winery. An endless night of misery. 12 hours earlier: The beastly F-150 roars at high speeds and high intervals (all hail AC/DC) on the flat Midwest roads as the driver fights to find a destination- any destination- that's as wicked and wild as him and his pals.

I am lost. Not physically, I know exactly where I am in terms of location, I am just lost. As I gaze around at cracking beige paint on the same four walls, the realisation dawns on me that I am not only lost, but trapped too. Like a bird surrounded by the bars on containment, being crushed by the weight of all the darkness in the world. How could I possible feel both lost and trapped?

It began with the face in the wardrobe. It is the first clear encounter that I can recall. Having never been particularly fond of the dark as a child as with most children, I often found my way into my mother's bed if I awoke in the middle of the night. On that night, as I curled around my mother, my eyes turned to the wardrobe in the far corner of the room and there it was. A face shrouded in all the darkness of the night watching my mother. I lay motionless, my breathing coming faster with every exhale. It did not notice at first that I could see it, it merely stared through black holes that eyes had once occupied. The air in the room turned to ice and its eyes moved to mine. There was a moment’s hesitation and then it looked at me. The smile that came over its face was slow and horrifying. For whatever reason, the smile broke through my stillness and as those black holes followed me, I lay down gently afraid that too rapid a movement would bring more than just a face. I rolled away and faced the wall. For some time, I could feel it there, still grinning like some demented Cheshire Cat and it seemed it was trying to speak with me. My brain tingled with half formed words that were not my own. Eventually, my childish fear put me to sleep.
