Gina’s stomach threatened to empty itself as the thing’s sour earthy smell filled the bathroom where she was hiding. Crouched by the bathtub, barely concealed behind the toilet, she swallowed and held her breath while her body tried to betray her. The mass of shadows passed by the doorway as it stalked the hall outside. Long flowing tendrils of darkness trailed behind the creature. If it had turned its head, she assumed it had a head, it would easily spot her crouching behind white porcelain.

The Volkov Experiment
Did anyone who lived around Seattle in the 90's remember Dr. Volkov's Children's Laboratory? I don't remember the specific town, my mum and I moved around a lot. But I definitely remember Dr. Volkov, and I remember hearing his commercials on the radio. I remember he said he'd give whatever families would let him borrow their kids something like $100,000, which honestly sounds super suspicious, but hey, my mum was a single parent who just needed some cash.

The New Student
I just killed the class president. That jerk was finally gone. I glare at my hands, covered in hot, dark blood. Filthy with the lies of the person I had just murdered. I brush my dry, black hair out of my eyes and adjust my glasses. I cock my head around, my eyes speeding around the classroom. Nobody had seen me do it. I squint at the bloody scene in front of me. I drop my dirty knife out of panic. What now? I obviously didn’t think this through. A lump of disgusting human flesh lies before me, no longer human. Suddenly, my feet become noodles, my tongue rough as a sponge. My insides tangle and twist with nausea. It’s disgusting. I dash to the nearest window and throw up. A green-ish yellow liquid spills out of my mouth, all chunky and clumpy. The packet ramen I had earlier clearly didn’t go down well. I drift back to reality, looking back at the body, I have to get rid of it.

Dark Shadows: Beyond the Grave Review
Over time, the Dark Shadows audios from Big Finish Productions have built up from their rather humble beginnings into huge sprawling arcs. Whereas the early Dramatised Readings were isolated chamber pieces with only one or two actors, the range has since expanded to feature much larger casts of characters, and more complex storylines that feel closer to Dark Shadows' roots as a soap opera than those early storylines did. This culminated in 2013's run of releases: a series of stories set in 1973 that, while focusing on individual characters, built up a wider threat to the inhabitants of Collinsport. This storyline came to its zenith with "Beyond the Grave", a story that is perhaps unlike any other Dark Shadows audio, before or since. Told through found footage, this release really pushes at the bounds of what a Dark Shadows episode looks like, and probably goes beyond them in many ways. As such, it ends up being perhaps the single most scary Big Finish audio in the company's mammoth discography, which is quite the feet considering the number of scary stories the company has released.

What should I do? I previously discovered a secret passageway, and the door to it has since vanished. I have already tried looking for the catch while pretending to drink from my water glass with one hand hidden behind my back. Now all of the painted wall is just a single solid panel. That access point has been blocked!
