I watched in horror as the documentary’s grainy footage played. Familiar streets blurred into a woman walking a dog—my dog—years ago. “The subject remains unaware of their role,” the narrator droned, chillingly detached. My pulse quickened. I rewound, desperate for context. There was my childhood home, my college dorm, even my first job, all filmed covertly.

Reparative Pal Program Three
What the treatment turned out to be was group therapy. Something that I hadn’t been expecting from everything. In fact, I was anticipating something out of American Horror Story. Maybe it was proof that I wasted too much time on horror. Or rather I hadn’t researched what mental health or faux mental health facilities do. Then again, I hadn’t ever anticipated being forced into the ‘Woodrow Clinic’. Being forced to ‘revitalize’ myself and become a ‘Companion Prisoner’ to someone in need. Or whatever they want to call me. It doesn’t matter. Nothing will ever matter again. I look at everyone in the group as I’m wheeled into it. There are people in various forms of ‘treatment’. Some were looking quite calm and collected. A few were somewhat hesitant about everything going on. Though I could see some reluctant acceptance in their eyes when they glanced at me. A hint of pity, possibly. I’m not quite sure as they weren’t maintaining eye contact with me at all. In fact, they were doing their best to avoid looking me in the eyes as if they would taint them if they stared.

This is the story of Neha, who lives in a girls hostel and joins a call center job as soon as her college is over. Neha is very excited about her new job. It is Neha's first day of work and she gets ready and reaches the call center well in advance. Where her team leader explains the work process to her. Neha was a very bright student in college, so she did not have much difficulty in understanding the work and she starts attending client calls from the very first day. Neha's way of talking is so good that she generates many orders on the very first day. Seeing this, Neha's team leader is very happy and encourages her for her work in front of everyone. Neha becomes happy and after many days, Neha also starts liking this work. Neha starts loving her work so much that many times she does not even know her timing. Many days go on like this. One day Neha's team leader asks her to do the night shift. But Neha refuses to work at night. Actually there is a shortage of staff working at night in the call center. Due to which Neha is approached. Due to work pressure Neha says yes and the next night at 8 o'clock Neha reaches the call center. As soon as Neha puts on her headphones...
