The Mysterious Dinner Guest. Content Warning.
About 7 years ago I got an invitation to attend my cousins dinner party. I have never seen my cousin before and only spoke to him on the phone. I was surprised that his family unexpectedly invited me after all these years.

The last call
The Last Call Chapter One: The Ringing Phone Chidera was alone in her apartment when her phone rang. The screen read "Unknown Caller." She hesitated before answering. “Hello?” A distorted voice whispered, “Don’t turn around.” Her breath caught. The lights flickered. The air turned icy. She spun around. Nothing. Then, the voice spoke again. “I see you.” --- Chapter Two: A Stranger in the Dark Her hands trembled as she ended the call. She rushed to lock every door and window. But when she reached the back door, she saw something terrifying— It was already unlocked. Had she left it open? Or had someone else been inside? Her phone buzzed with a text from her best friend, Amaka. "Did you just call me?" Chidera’s blood ran cold. She hadn’t. And then—her phone rang again. Unknown Caller. --- Chapter Three: Nowhere to Run She didn’t answer. Instead, she peeked outside. The street was empty. But near the gate, a shadow moved. Her phone vibrated with another message. "You can’t run." Panic surged through her. She grabbed a knife from the kitchen. Suddenly—the power went out. Her phone buzzed one last time. "I’m inside." --- Chapter Four: The Truth Revealed Footsteps creaked behind her. Chidera spun, swinging the knife wildly. Laughter echoed through the room. Then—click. The lights came back on. Standing in front of her was Amaka. “What the hell?!” Chidera gasped. Amaka smirked. “Relax. It was a prank.” Chidera’s knees nearly buckled. “You scared me to death!” But then—her phone vibrated again. A new message. "That wasn’t me." --- Chapter Five: The Real Horror Chidera’s breath caught. She turned to Amaka, but something was wrong. Amaka’s phone lay untouched on the table. “Who texted me?” Chidera whispered. Amaka frowned. “What are you talking about?” A shiver ran down Chidera’s spine. She glanced at the front door. It was wide open. And outside, in the darkness, someone was watching. --- Chapter Six: Unseen Eyes Chidera felt paralyzed. The figure outside didn’t move. Just watched. Amaka grabbed her wrist. “Chidera, lock the door. Now.” Chidera hesitated. Then—BANG! The door slammed shut on its own. The TV flickered on. A grainy video played— A live feed of them, standing in the living room. A message popped up on the screen: "I’m inside now." Amaka screamed. A shadow stretched across the floor. And it wasn’t theirs. --- Chapter Seven: Trapped Chidera groped through the darkness, calling Amaka’s name. Silence. Then, a whisper. "Leave. Now." A sharp, cold hand brushed her shoulder. She spun around—nothing. Her phone buzzed. A video message. She clicked play. It showed Amaka, standing frozen in the living room. Behind her, a tall, faceless figure. Then—Amaka was gone. Chidera screamed. --- Chapter Eight: Now You See Me The lights flickered back. The living room was empty. Amaka was nowhere. A single message appeared on the TV screen. "Your turn." A presence loomed behind her. She refused to turn around. The phone buzzed. A voice recording. She played it. Amaka’s voice whispered, "Don't turn around." Too late. A cold breath on her neck. Everything went dark. --- Epilogue: The Last Call The next morning, the apartment was silent. Police found Chidera’s phone on the floor. One missed call: Unknown Caller. The call history showed that the last call… had come from inside the house. Chidera and Amaka were never found. But sometimes, late at night, their numbers still call strangers. And if you answer, a whisper will say: "Don’t turn around." THE END.
