Strangers From Hell is the Most Underrated and Terrifying Nightmare

What if every resident in the apartment complex was a serial killer?

I feel that Strangers from Hell is hardly ever talked about online. This story was based on a comic that was released through an app called Webtoon, so perhaps that was one of the reasons why this television show feels so unknown among the horror community. I was convinced by a family member to check out the show when it was released on Netflix, and I thought it was one of the best one season horror wonders.

We follow the story of a young guy who needs a place to live. He moves into a shady apartment complex, but despite the weird residents, everything seems to be alright.

Little does he know that every single resident who lives in this apartment building is a full-blown psychopath who delights in killing.

What I love about the scary residents is that they all fall into the stereotypes of slashers:

- The sweet old lady who will kill you without any remorse.

- The twin brothers who appear to be way too friendly.

- The hot guy who gets away with murder.

- The nerdy dude who is secretly a pervert.

- The other hot guy who is considered the leader, who is a total sociopathic killer.

The residents continue a killing spree under the radar, and they are never suspected, because who the hell would suspect these guys?

It's a brilliant premise, and the main storyline is so fascinating to watch.

The hot sociopathic killer gets obsessed with the main character, believing that he can turn him into a serial killer, making him the best of the group.

The anxiety I felt while watching the show was intense, because the build up for the main character to figure out the truth behind the complex was nerve wracking as hell. He was damn lucky the leader of the killers took such an interest in him, because he was spared from a grisly fate, compared to the other unfortunate victims the group had murdered.

And you think that's worse, we also learn that the group was most likely feeding on people.

Yeah, they were cannibals too…these guys were seriously sick.

What's even more interesting about this crazy group, is their mysterious backstory.

It appears that residents had worked in the medical field together, before they started the apartment complex business. We only get a picture as the clue throughout the entire show, and I believe that these killers had been around much longer than we think. My theory is that they had conducted their 'business of killings' in the medical field, before moving on to a random apartment complex to continue their killing spree.

We also learn that the leader of the killers was now a dentist, implying that he had a lot of medical experience.

Their sense of loyalty to each other was baffling to me, but I think they truly saw each other as family, or maybe they felt like they finally found people that understand that darkness that lives within them.

The hot sociopathic leader is by far the most scariest one.

I know that I keep mentioning how attractive this guy is, but there was something about this character that really stuck out to me.

Then I figured it out.

He is one of those people who is able to blend in with society, taking on the ability of a chameleon, and anyone would fall for it.

He comes off as a polite man.

He comes off as a terrifying menace.

He is attractive, and appears trustworthy.

Plus, his smile is scary as shit. Man, this actor knew how to pull off a creepy smile. Even the main character got uncomfortable with him in several scenes, but I totally get it. That smile was terrifying to look at.

It also didn't help that he came off like he was in love with the main character, but in reality, he believed he could transform this guy into his next killer.

And that he did.

The series has one of the darkest endings I have seen to a television show.

After everything the main character goes through, he is able to survive it all. He is able to save his girlfriend from that horrific ordeal, and now he is recovering in the hospital.

But this ending comes with a twist.

He did survive that ordeal, by killing everyone in the apartment complex. He killed off all of the killers himself, including the leader, who dies with pride, because he was victorious.

The series ends with the main character embracing his psychopathic self, taking on the persona of the leader.

It's such a tragic ending, but damn, is it scary.

I think the trauma became too much for the main character, and he couldn't fight the madness building up within him.

Strangers from Hell is a horror masterpiece, and you will never want to move into an apartment complex after watching this show.
