Viscerophobic? There were some advantages to a few years of psych and bio studies in a second-rate college, but she was not totally sure that it was a real word. It was related to people who were afraid of all the bits and pieces inside themselves. She could not help but think of the stories she heard of people who were absolutely terrified to find that there was a skeleton inside of their skins. Almost too silly to contemplate…
And it was making her hungry.
It was their first date and it made her feel very comfortable to know that he had almost no ethics to speak of. Another man looking at another young woman and letting biology outrun common sense. She was not hunting at the time, but still…it was good to take down one of these “menaces to society” when she could. That was all they said in the press and online when they found the remains of another killer or child molester who no longer became victim once the possible motives were juggled by so-called experts. She had not even been that hungry at the time, but it was good practice for her as the seasons changed and the darkness grew.
Her bloodlust had been enough.
And she would enjoy what she was about to do to this one on their…“date”.
Her makeup smeared as her laughter grew in the mirror, pushing all of that mascara around in the rouge and foundation that did not hold a single thing together.
It was a very difficult thing to understand some of these humans. All of these years of growth and feeding and they still behaved the same way when they saw something they really, really wanted. And they all wanted the same things, didn’t they: money; land; property; clothes; trinkets; baubles; titles; nonsense… She had given it to them when the elders accepted that they were weak and deserved such punishments. That was a promise made a long time ago, and her duties were fulfilled. And now…she was on her own.
Would they ever interfere with her hunger?
Salivation was something she would have to control before she stepped out of her bathroom and attempted to go out. Her teeth and fangs almost pierced her lips as she considered how delicious he would be when she ended the date early and took him home with all of the old promises that never failed when they were lonely, stupid, and sexually desperate and deprived.
And his profile was a dead giveaway.
Professor? More like a community college instructor who was lucky to still receive any contracts. And those lines were total rubbish, although his Greek was correct.
“Soma” was Greek. It did mean “body”, and....other things... but his blabbing about its origins was silly. She was actually there when the words were first formed, and those old men really knew nothing.
She gave them the language. She gave them the knowledge.
And she gave them a price.
As she thought about it, the salivation became worse, but wiping down her face and starting over again would not lose her any time. There would be nothing “viserophobic” about what she was going to do.
It was a body meeting another body.
It was hunger.
It was time to do what needed to be done.
