Sarah was a young woman who lived alone in a small, isolated house on the edge of town. She had always been a bit of a loner, preferring the solitude of her home to the hustle and bustle of city life.

One dark and stormy night, Sarah heard a knock at her door. She hesitated for a moment, wondering who could be out in such terrible weather, but eventually decided to answer it.

When she opened the door, she was confronted by a tall, dark figure standing in the rain. It was a man, dressed in ragged clothes and with a wild, unkempt beard. He looked as if he had not slept or eaten in days.

"Please, help me," he begged, his voice hoarse and desperate. "I've been lost in these woods for days and I can't find my way back."

Sarah felt a pang of pity for the man and, despite her reservations, invited him in out of the rain. She gave him a warm meal and a place to rest by the fire, and he seemed grateful for her kindness.

But as the night wore on, Sarah began to feel uneasy. There was something about the man that seemed off, and she couldn't shake the feeling that he was hiding something.

As the storm raged on outside, Sarah tried to sleep, but she was too troubled by the stranger in her home. Eventually, she decided to confront him.

"Who are you?" she asked, trying to keep the fear out of her voice.

The man looked at her with dark, empty eyes. "I am the Boogeyman," he whispered, his voice dripping with malice. "And you should have never let me in."

Sarah screamed as the Boogeyman lunged at her, his claws slashing at her face. She managed to escape, running through the stormy night as fast as she could, but she knew that the Boogeyman would be hot on her heels.

She ran until she was lost and alone in the woods, the Boogeyman's cackling laughter echoing in her ears. And as the dawn broke, Sarah knew that she would never be the same again.

Sarah stumbled through the woods, her heart pounding in her chest and tears streaming down her face. She had no idea where she was going, but she knew that she had to keep moving if she wanted to survive.

As the sun rose, Sarah began to feel a sense of hope. She had survived the night and the Boogeyman had not caught up to her. Perhaps she could make it out of the woods after all.

But as the day wore on, Sarah's hope began to fade. She was lost and alone, with no food or water, and her strength was beginning to flag. She knew that she couldn't go on much longer.

Just as she was about to give up, Sarah heard a faint sound in the distance. It was the sound of a river, and Sarah knew that if she followed it, she might be able to find her way out of the woods.

With renewed energy, Sarah set off towards the sound of the river, her feet pounding against the ground as she ran. She could feel the Boogeyman's presence behind her, but she didn't dare look back.

Finally, after what felt like an eternity, Sarah burst through the trees and into a clearing. There, in front of her, was the river, sparkling in the sunlight.

Sarah collapsed onto the bank, her whole body shaking with exhaustion and relief. She had made it out of the woods, and she had survived the Boogeyman.

But as she lay there, panting and sweating, Sarah knew that she would never forget the horrors of that night. The Boogeyman had left his mark on her, and she would always be looking over her shoulder, waiting for him to come back.
