Scream 3 is the Worst Film in the Scream Franchise
The killer reveal ruined this whole film for me.

Scream 3 was the only film that left a bitter taste in my mouth. I thoroughly enjoyed the first two Scream movies, including the fourth film in the old installments, but Scream 3 felt like it did not belong in the franchise.
We did follow our three favorite leads of Sidney, Gale, and Dewey, and while I was happy to see the main trio return, I was caught off guard by the film itself. This time around, the film was going to take place in a Hollywood setting, where the main characters were going to be advising the cast and crew how to film their traumatic events with the killers they once faced.
I thought it was freaking weird how the characters were willing to do this.
I don't remember the reason why they offered to help, but I couldn't get over how they were willing to film what they had gone through in the past with barely surviving multiple killers. This direction was definitely an odd choice for the movie, but I was willing to give it a chance.
Then we got to the killer reveal.
I was left completely disappointed.
Scream 3 decided to throw in a stupid twist of Sidney having a secret brother as the killer for the film.

This twist honestly felt like it came out of nowhere, and it just didn't fit the killer aesthetic of the other Scream films.
I felt that the writers did not understand the material they were given when it came to the Scream killer storylines.
The reason why the second film worked with having Billy's mother as one of the killers, is because we already knew that Billy was insane. He was the first killer, along with his sidekick, Stu, who truly started this crazy trend. It makes sense why Billy's mother got pissed off with losing her son, and we can see where Billy got his crazy side from.
With Sidney, this does not work.
Scream 3 decided to make some dude named Roman her brother, and I lost interest so fast once he was revealed as the killer.
One of the problems with Roman as the killer, is that he wasn't as entertaining as the killers in the other films.
This dude felt random, generic, and edgy in the worst way. At least Billy and Stu had a strange sort of creepy charisma, and the other killers in the second and fourth films were able to maintain this borderline insanity that kind of scared me as a viewer.
Roman did not give me that vibe at all. I got so bored with this guy, and I also got pretty annoyed too.
The second problem is that Roman was the only killer.
Dude just wanted to kill everyone on his own, and I was so disappointed he didn't have a sidekick with him this time around. The Scream killers are known for having a ringleader and a sidekick, and Roman decided to disregard this infamous sidekick that makes the killers iconic?
The third problem was that Roman was written to be the one who started the trend of killers, meaning that Billy and Stu weren't the ones to instigate this entire plan.
This was by far the worst thing the writers did for the film. You're telling me that they decided to retcon Billy and Stu starting this terrifying trend of murderers that relentlessly hunted Sidney and her friends?
Billy and Stu are iconic and beloved by fans for a reason, and sure, these dudes are utterly insane and scary as hell, but they were awesome and memorable slasher villains. It was also realistic to have these two as the killers who started it all in the first film, because they unfortunately are famous in the universe of the Scream franchise, and their fans will remember them always for the crimes they committed against so many innocent victims.
It makes sense why so many killers followed their path, and Roman shutting down this great storyline ruins Billy and Stu killer legacy.
Scream 3 is the worst film in the franchise, and I will never watch it again.
