Resident Evil: Marhawa Desire Had Awesome Zombie Carnage that was Ruined by its Main Villain

Resident Evil: Marhawa Desire is a prequel story before Resident Evil 6, and while this manga was pretty awesome when it came to the story and the extreme violence…but the villain for this series was kind of dumb. 

I struggled to understand how this person could be the main villain, because I felt that it was such an awkward choice for a Resident Evil villain. I'm not really a fan of some of these villains in the franchise, but this one is definitely the worst one. 

We follow the story of a kid named Ricky Tozawa, who goes to a school called Marhawa Academy with his uncle to investigate a strange outbreak, where corruption lingers. Ricky befriends a young girl named Bindi, who is the school president of the campus. Ricky is caught fighting zombies, as Chris Redfield arrives to the school with a small crew of people to help the school fight this new outbreak. 

We then get the villain reveal…and I was surprised, because I didn't expect the story to choose this character as the villain twist. And honestly, I had a hard time taking her character seriously after the reveal. 

Bindi, the school president, was the main villain in this series.

I should explain why Bindi was the villain, before I start to talk about my issues with this odd twist. 

Bindi was the school president of the school, who had become best friends with the school outcast, known as Nanan. She had gone through so much mistreatment at this school, and Bindi decided to help her get away from the school. It didn't go well, and the school catches them. Nanan ends up tripping, and she bangs her head against a rock, killing her instantly. 

Bindi breaks down over her friend's death, and the school had covered up the accident, to protect their reputation. While Bindi is grieving, she runs into a mystery person in a cloak, who offers to help her take vengeance on the school. Bindi is given a virus, to cause her own havoc upon the campus. Nanan also returns, infected with the virus, and Bindi works together with her to perform their plan of wiping out the entire school. 

Everyone on campus either turns into zombies, or gets eaten alive. 

The violence was pretty explicit, and you will feel bad for so many victims who suffer at the hands of the dead. 

While this whole premise was awesome, I couldn't look past how dumb this reveal was. 

Bindi really came off like more of a sexy, slasher girl, instead of a zombie threat. I get that she hated the school, but going as far to murder a bunch of kids who didn't have it coming…was pretty crazy. If she had only gone after the people who were responsible for the cover up of her friend's death, or the people who bullied her friend, I would completely understand. 

Hell, I don't think Bindi should have been the main villain. 

I wish it had been a random person within the school, maybe it could have been someone with high power, and this person could have used Bindi to infect the school, instead of having her as the main villain. 

This route would have been so much cooler, because again, Bindi is a young girl. She's not a mastermind, like Albert Wesker. She's a random girl, who was selected for this experiment. I even got annoyed with Nanan's character toward the end of the manga, because before she fully died, she had seen Bindi, as some sort of angel figure, after Bindi had gotten killed. 

I get that the manga was trying to say that we should feel bad for these girls, but I couldn't bring myself to feel bad for this duo. They made their choice to end a bunch of lives, in the most violent way imaginable. 

Overall, this manga was great, but the villain reveal was in my opinion, the wrong choice.
