One quiet evening after school, in a small rural town, students were scattering back to their homes. Among them, two girls strolled leisurely, their conversation casual yet tinged with curiosity.
Mia: “Anna, have you ever heard about the ghost stories of our school? You know, every school usually has one, don’t they?”
Anna: “Oh, come on, Mia. Stories like that? They’re just made-up tales to scare kids like us. There’s no way they’re real.”
Mia: “But I heard that a student in our school actually saw something. They said it happened near the old building behind the school.”
Anna: “Really? Are you sure it wasn’t just a rumor? People just love to spread stories like that, you know.”
Mia: “You don’t believe me, do you? How about we go check out the old building ourselves? I heard there’s a lady in red who walks around the second floor in the evenings.”
Anna: “You’re kidding, right? It’s already late. If a teacher catches us here, we’re going to be in so much trouble.”
Mia: “See? You’re scared, aren’t you? Come on, Anna. Let’s go. It’ll be fun.”
Anna: “I’m not scared! Fine, let’s go. But don’t blame me if we get caught.”
The two girls made their way to the old building behind the main school. The structure was decrepit, with cracks along its walls and vines creeping over its surface. The wooden floors of the balcony creaked with every step, and the atmosphere was heavy with an eerie silence.
Mia: “We’re here. Let’s go inside.”
Anna: “Are you sure about this? I don’t feel good about it.”
Mia: “Oh, stop being such a baby. If we don’t see the lady in red, I’m not leaving.”
Anna: “…Fine.”
They climbed to the second floor. The entire building was cloaked in silence, broken only by the faint rustling of the wind. The evening light was fading fast, leaving only shadows and a growing sense of dread.
Anna: “Can we leave now? There’s nothing here.”
Suddenly, thud… thud… thud…. The sound of footsteps echoed through the empty corridor. At first, the sound was faint, but it grew louder and faster, as though someone was running along the wooden balcony.
Anna: “Mia… I’m scared.”
Mia: “Let’s hide. Quick!”
The two girls ducked behind a large desk in an old classroom. The footsteps drew closer, accompanied by the creaking of the old wooden planks.
Anna: “M-Mia… I’m scared…”
The sound of footsteps stopped abruptly in front of the classroom door. Silence fell, broken only by the faint sound of the wind.
Anna: “Why… did it stop?”
Suddenly, BANG! The door slammed shut with such force that Anna screamed in terror.
Anna: “Mia… let’s leave… please!”
Mia: “Shhh… we don’t even know what it is yet.”
Mia peeked out toward the door, but there was nothing there. Only the faint light of the moon shining through the crack in the door.
Mia: “See? There’s nothing – ”
Before Mia could finish, her face turned pale as her body froze. She pointed at the door, trembling.
Anna: “Mia? What is it? What do you see?”
Anna followed Mia’s gaze. Slowly, she saw it too – a hand gripping the edge of the door. Its fingers were long, bony, and clawed, with rough, gray skin and nails as dark as ink. The hand moved slightly, as if something – or someone – was about to step inside.
Both girls tried to look away, but their bodies wouldn’t move, as though something was holding them in place. A head slowly peeked around the corner. Its face was pale, wrinkled, and stretched into a grotesque grin. Its sharp teeth gleamed in the faint light as it let out a soft chuckle.
“You see me, don’t you…? Heh… hahahaha!”
Anna and Mia screamed, their cries echoing through the building. That was the last anyone ever saw of them.
