Lost Souls

Which one am I?

By Stalla BPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

There was only one rule: don’t open the door.

Little Wendy knocked. Every damn day and never got a response. She said she saw a light under the gap of the wooden door once. Every now and then she would peak under. The little girl wondered who it was that pondered on the other side but still, she never got a response since that time she saw a light under the wooden door once. Eventually, she stopped and someone else approached...

Young little Gemma. A ferocious little child. An echo whispered to her through the hinges that creaked. Let me out, let me out. It drove her to try bust the door down, but every time she tried, on that third bang, she would disappear...

Little Wendy’s voice followed... “No, wait. Stop!”

Time after time, Lacey would approach, “Why can’t we open it?”

Young Boris answered, “Why bother? Don’t you see? It’s a deadlock. Whatever’s in there, can’t get out.”

“What if the key is inside?” little Mae’s voice appeared out of nowhere.

“I found a key, I found a key!” Yvonne screeched through her teeth.

The door rattled until I heard young Mary come out to play. She put the key in the slot. The handle turned. It jimmied until it broke. A light turned on under the gap of the wooden door as I approached. Behind the shadows, I hid. My hand against the handle as I jiggled it. Loud screams echoed as my hands went straight to my head as I crawled into a ball in the corner, it was as though the girls were trying to escape a monster.

But we were all on the same side of the door...
