While the internet is awash with news on the upcoming Hellraiser sequel/reboot I'm more interested in checking out Hellraisers past, like the time Lemmy fought Pinhead. I can hear you saying what? When did this happen? Well, it was for promotion of Hellraiser III Hell On Earth back in 1992, Lemmy's band Motorhead did a song for the movie aptly titled Hellraiser. They naturally got to make a rock video to play on MTV and it just so happens they managed to get Doug Bradley to play his cenobite alter ego Pinhead.

Happy go-lucky Pinhead

Music Video Breakdown

Anyone buy hard copy singles nowadays?

In typical Motorhead style, the band glam up and perform on a stage for an audience of....cenobites! Yikes. Pinhead and the gang sit and watch quietly until they notice the only other punter in the audience. As the guy sits there enjoying the show Pinhead sends his cenobites to show him the new meaning of pain! I sure wouldn't want to be THAT guy...

I'd turn around if I were you

The best sequence in the whole video however has to be the final confrontation between the band and the evil cenobites. Lemmy sits down at a table opposite Pinhead and they play a card game, presumably for his soul. This is one of those pop culture nods to the 'chess scene' in Ingmar Bergman's seminal classic The Seventh Seal (1957), where a man plays chess with death to save his life. A Cheesy nod but extremely fun in my opinion...

It was also used in Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey where they try to beat death at various games to much hilarity...

See It Now!

So enough talk, check out the full video below and experience this zany crossover for yourself:

So what did you reckon to that? A fun little nod to the Hellraiser series and the late great Lemmy, let's hope he's rocking out wherever he may be. His music and legacy will last for lifetimes to come I have no doubt.
