Leaning Forest
Never Enter When the Trees Lean... They Are Watching

Leaning Forest
No one knows exactly when the trees in Ganal Forest began to grow at an angle. All their trunks lean in one direction—toward a narrow path that only appears during a moonless night. Locals call it “Leaning Forest,” a place where gravity feels altered and time seems to slow.
Dark clouds loomed as Elan, a mystery content writer, decided to investigate the myth dismissed as village folklore. Armed with a camera, headlamp, and voice recorder, he entered the forest at dusk, accompanied by a chilling wind and an insect chorus—too synchronized, too perfect.
His first steps felt light, but the deeper he went, gravity seemed to pull his body to the right, following the trees’ tilt. He played his recording.
“Today is the 13th. I’ve entered Ganal Forest. My goal is simple: to witness what people call a time tunnel or a portal of death.”
After thirty minutes of walking, Elan stopped. In front of him stood an old wooden cabin. Its roof sagged, and the windows opened by themselves despite the still air. Around the cabin, the ground formed a scorched circle, as if a small fire had once burned there.
He approached. The door was unlocked.
The moment he stepped inside, the temperature dropped drastically. The sky outside seemed to vanish, replaced by a thick fog.
“What is this? Is the lens foggy?” he muttered, wiping it. No change.
Inside the cabin was only a single rocking chair and a large mirror on the wall. But as Elan drew closer, the mirror did not reflect him—it showed a darker forest, filled with motionless black figures, lined up like they were waiting.
He turned around. No one was there.
The mirror began to crack. Elan stepped back, but the sound intensified—like breaking bones. Suddenly, the figures in the mirror moved closer to the glass from the other side.
Elan turned and ran out of the cabin. But the forest he returned to was no longer the same.
The trees now grew upside-down. Their roots hung from the sky, while the leaves stabbed into the ground. The sky turned a thick gray, and his shadow no longer followed him.
He ran. His breath grew heavy. But the path he followed looped endlessly, always bringing him back to the same cabin.
At the door now hung a red plastic rope, swaying gently as if recently used. Below it, a photograph dangled—of him. Oddly, in the photo, he was standing inside the cabin, not outside.
From the voice recorder came a new voice. Not his.
“Welcome, Elan. You’ve tilted. You’re now one of them.”
Elan dropped the recorder and sprinted down a different path, one he’d never seen before. But every trail led him back—to the cabin, the mirror, the rope, and the photo, now changed—it showed him hanging.
At last, he stopped. Exhaustion and fear overtook him. From the upside-down trees, whispers emerged. Thousands of voices in an unrecognizable language, yet they felt like mocking laughter.
The trees began to move. Slowly but surely, closing in. The roots writhed across the ground like starving snakes. Elan tried to set one on fire with his lighter, but when the flame sparked, it turned into black smoke that devoured nearby light.
Through the mist, the shadowy figure appeared again. This time, real. Tall, thin, faceless, and with each movement, the surrounding trees tilted sharper.
It whispered into Elan’s ear without a sound.
And then—darkness.
Days Later
The search team only found a broken camera, a dropped voice recorder, and a ring of scorched earth. No trace of Elan.
But what shocked the locals was a photo that suddenly appeared inside the old cabin. A man stood in the middle of the forest, surrounded by leaning trees. He wore a faint smile. His eyes were hollow. A name was etched beneath:
“Elan, The New Resident.”
And from that day forward, one more tree began to lean.
