Nightmare Magician
The crowd were all seated and ready. The chatter of nearly 1,000 people in the warm glow of the theatre's lights carried with it the anticipation of witnessing something special - a magic show. The bright red, vermillion and gold decor spoke to the occasion and glistened, as the 8 pm start time rolled around.

Gerry’s adventure
Gerald was unlike the other High School kids around him. While many looked for local work like stocking supplies at a grocery store, helping in farmers' fields, or punching the clock at a factory in order to have spending money, Gerald, or Gerry to his friends, was more interested in opportunities that existed on the other side of the skyline, beyond the vast, golden prairie that surrounded him. He often saw cars drive over the horizon and wondered where they were going, what they were doing. Curiosity was in his nature.

10:42 pm
[Originally published on my old blog, Halloween, 2013.] Natasha shivered in the corner of the shattered room, racing against the sputtering warmth of her dying candle. She held in her numb hands her last connection to the outside world—the Morse Code telegraph that had been serendipitously stowed with the emergency supplies in the one corner of the room not destroyed. Or perhaps the devices had been placed everywhere, in the event of catastrophe, but there was no one left to ask.

The Ghoulish Man
09/03/2021 The Ghoulish Man Someone stole my friend. There was a village by the sea. In the village was a house, that everyone knew about. In that house was a man who was hardly a man and more of a creature. Nobody knew his name, just his nature. Nobody knew if he had a face because nobody had ever returned to tell of seeing it.

Abduction
My name is Stephen and I am in a mental ward because I disappeared off of the face of the earth a few weeks ago, or at least I think a few weeks ago, only to be found naked and cold as I wandered around an old field. Sure, I'm sorry for the shock that it must have caused Mrs. Davis, our postal lady. But it really wasn't my fault.

Guardia Nocturna
Generally it takes a great deal to spook me. My birthday is close to Halloween, so I grew up having costume birthday parties, and then in college I became a hardcore gothic club hound. I love the elegantly spooky and macabre, and use my Halloween kitchenware all year long.

There's always an explanation
The ticks of the clock seemed to reverberate within Isaac's head as he paced back and forth across the room. He would periodically stop to glance at the time and, upon realizing only a handful of seconds had passed, would begin to pace again. This routine was nothing new to him. Every Wednesday at 5:55 sharp, he would ring the buzzer outside the home office to be let in. His standing appointment was at 6:30, but he couldn't bear being anything but overly punctual. For him, this was just the norm; he had been this way for as long as he could remember. For the most part, those who knew him just accepted that fact, but Dr. Sai knew that there was some other reason behind it. She assured him that first session that there is always an explanation. Of course, he didn't believe her, but she asked him if he would bear with her for a bit. It took her some time, but eventually, she dug it out of Isaac. One of the last things his father had told him was, "If you're on time, you're late." the morning of the accident. Unconsciously, that little saying stuck with him and drove much of his actions. Before that session, Isaac had concluded that Dr. Sai was unable to help. In his mind, she was just another in a long line of doctors and professionals who couldn't treat him. After he had finished wiping his tears that day, however, he felt something change within him. He understood that Dr. Sai was here to help him. From then on, his pacing went from being motivated by distrust and uncertainty to motivated by impatience and jealousy. Dr. Sai was there to help him, so why did she feel the need to spend so much time with other patients?

The Killer
It was early in the morning. Nobody else was awake except for 3 people, A little girl named Emily and her mother, and a guy... Everything seemed fine at first, until... “Mommy mommy wake up” A little girl named Emily called out, while trying to wake up her mother, “Yes, honey?” The mother answered. “Can we please see the new movie today?” Emily asked, excitedly. “Yes, Just let me wake up a little bit more, why don’t you go downstairs and sit at the table so I can get breakfast for you?” her mother said. “Ok,” Emily said, rushing out of the bedroom and down the stairs. Emily’s mother walked out into the hallway and into the bathroom, to wash her face. Emily sat down at the table waiting for her mother to come down. Her mother grabbed the bar of Lavender soap and her red washcloth, and started rubbing them together. Once the washcloth was lathered. She put the bar of soap down, and held the washcloth with both hands and started to scrub her face. Once she was down scrubbing every inch of her face, she put the washcloth down and turned on the water to Lukewarm, and cupped her hands so she could hold water in them, she put her hands under the running water until her hands were halfway filled with water, and splashed the water onto her face. She got all the soap off her face, and then turned off the water. She dried her face and walked out of the bathroom. She walked downstairs, to see her daughter calmly sitting down and waiting at the table for breakfast. “Oh, my!” she said, “I forgot all about breakfast!” she claimed, rushing into the kitchen. She walked towards the pantry door and opened it.

Hello, Sweetheart
10:21PM – Monday, March 16th, 2015 Fairy tales hardly ever come true for quiet girls. At least, that’s what my mother used to tell me right before she’d down her second bottle of red and pass out for the night. I always wondered why she had taken me for a quiet girl, because inside, I was screaming.
