Indisputable evidence that ghosts exist

Paranormal Activity

A spooky place near Darjeeling, West Bengal, India.

It all happened in the old family house in a place in India. The house was 500 years old with banyan shoots and creepers and climbers growing all over but housing four families of the Chatterjee's. Generation after generation has lived and died here and the house has been a witness to all the anguish, apprehension, property feud, jealousy, you name it and it's all there.

The family members went around with their usual duties day in and out however it was the spirits that knew when to strike and whom to strike. One fine day, the family members had gone to attend a family function leaving behind the old grandma and the newly wedded wife of one of their son's. It was almost 9 p.m when old granny had her dinner with the young lady and lay down in bed. She narrated old stories about the ancestors living in that grand old mansion and the reminiscence was nothing less than creepy. This left the young lady losing all her wits as she listened to the ancient history of the grandpa and his forefathers.

Grandma continued with her story unless she fell asleep and the lady lay awakened by all the memories of what she had just heard. She wondered whether she had enough courage to encounter any such soul that might wander near her and this made her feel uncomfortable. The dim light washing the room with shadows here and there just added to her misery when suddenly all went black. It was a load-shedding but just the timings were apt. Grandma was snoring and the young lady perspiring profusely at the thought of what can happen if something were to go wrong. After a few minutes, she could sense cool breeze from the window just above the bed and the bed swaying slightly. It felt like a slight quake in the earth however this continued for several seconds.

The bed swayed and a small steel glass just fell off the table and rolled along the floor. The atmosphere was darn creepy and the young lady unable to wake her mother-in-law lay there perspiring profusely. Unable to turn sides or at least get a drink, she lay still like a mummy. Faint voices mumbling could be heard just above the bedposts as if trying to convey a message to her. Throat parched from lack of water and fear, she lay there still. The faint mumbling went on for a couple of minutes after which they died down on their own.

Suddenly the lights came on and washed the room with light. The young lady somehow managed to wake her mother-in-law and narrate the entire incident to her. The old lady just smiled and said that it was just a repetition that had happened to her when she had come to that house as a newly wedded bride. There is some soul who needs to convey a message however no one dares to speak up, look at it and question it. Some dissatisfied spirit of the ancestors looking for some help.

Years later, when grandma expired, the young lady who was a mother of two by then had seen her in the same house, sitting on the same chair where she sat every evening drinking a cup of tea. The vision had come on a similar evening when there was a load-shedding. Grandma though did not speak or instil fear in the lady however the very sight of her after death was enough to give goosebumps and scare the life out of anyone.

So my dear friends, a small confession here - the spooky house in question is my ancestral house, the young lady is my mother and of course, it was my grandma.
