The Game Called “Dry Bones”

I dare you to play a game called “Dry Bones” when alone at home in the middle of the night! Yes, it is believed to be an actual game in which a person can summon a demon to play hide and seek. In this case, the person is the one that needs to hide. If the person beats the demon at this game, the person gets rewarded big.

To begin the game, one must light a candle in the bathroom of the house at midnight. The person has to be staring at the mirror while lighting the candle. Once the candle is lit, the person has to invite Dry Bones into this world. I guess it would be sufficient to simply say, “Dry Bones, I invite you into my world.” One can always elaborate more on the wording of the welcoming statement when summoning this demon, but the intention is what really counts. So, keeping it simple would probably be best.

Once the person utters an invitation for this demon to join our dimension, the person must run out of the bathroom and hide somewhere inside the house. I guess it has to be in the house! I would also imagine that the hiding place would have to be planned because summoning a demon and hiding somewhere simple would not be a good idea at all!

The person has to stay hidden from Dry Bones for three hours. So, if the demon does not find the person who summoned it by 3 in the morning, the person gets a prize. Before getting rewarded, the person has to come out of the hiding place and go to the biggest room of the house or building and expel the demon from this world. Yes, once at the biggest space of the house or building, one tells the demon to go away.

Again, keeping it simple is the best way to tell this demon to go away. Also, it is anticipated that once a person stays hidden for three hours, after midnight, from this demon, the demon cannot mess with the player after leaving the hiding spot and going to the biggest room. So, the person must make sure to tell the demon to leave once the biggest room is reached! It would be dumb to have an evil entity hanging around one’s dwelling simply because the person forgot to recite an expulsion.

The Outcome

If a loud growl is heard once the person tells Dry Bones to leave, that means that the demon was sent to his realm. If this happens, it means that the person playing Dry Bones wins the game and gets awarded with whatever his or her heart desires. If the player loses, the demon gets the player’s soul. This would obviously happen if the player is found by the demon between midnight and 3 AM.

It is said that Dry Bones gets to do whatever he grants with a person’s soul if it were to win this haunting game. Many speculate that the soul is tortured for eternity. That sounds about right since it is a demon that is playing this game. No one wants a demon to win when playing against one because, duh, the soul is the cost.

Can You Imagine?

In my imagination, I would not even risk playing hide and seek with a demon, Yes, if I were to win, I could desire whatever I want. The cost though is way too harsh. I mean, it is your damn soul that is being put on the table. That’s not a good idea. However, the thrill of playing the game would be the ultimate rush. Imagine hiding in a dark house while hearing a demon looking for you for a whole three hours. That experience alone would drive anyone crazy!

So, if you were to play, what would be your desire if you won this game against Dry Bones? Would you dare to try it?
