This dark game has become popular with teenagers, and it used to be a ritual that was used to punish people that broke the laws or rules of the Bible. It was also used on atheists, and the purpose was to test the person's faith.

Before explaining how to play this scary game, I must warn readers that the game could cause death or make a person go insane. This game can also lead to possessions by dark entities or experience a haunting.

Preparing to Play

To summon a demon or a dark entity, a person always needs equipment and courage. In this case, the Midnight Man is summoned with a few simple things.

The list of things needed to play The Midnight Man game is as follows:

1. A piece of paper.
2. A writing tool like a pen, marker, crayon, pencil, etc.
3. A candle.
4. A box of matches or a lighter. A very reliable lighter is the better choice.
5. A house or building with the entrance being a wooden door.
6. A container of salt.
7. A needle or a pin.

How to Play

First, you write your full name on a piece of paper. You pluck your finger with the pin to draw out blood and stamp the paper with it. Make sure you get a niece drop of blood on that paper. Some people have been known to write their name with the blood. That is grand but it sounds very dramatic, so don't be silly!

Second, when nearing midnight, you turn off all the lights in the house or building and stand by the front door. Put the paper with your name and blood in front of the door and light the candle. Put the candle on top of the paper and make sure it stays lit.

Third, you knock on the door when the clock strikes midnight. You must knock 22 times. Make sure that all the knocks are done before the clock strikes at 12:01 am.

Fourth, you open the door and blow out the candle. Then, you shut the door and quickly relight the candle. Now, the game begins because you have just summoned the Midnight Man and invited him inside the house or building.

Fifth, you must keep moving around the house with the candle on. The Midnight Man cannot get you if you keep moving with the candle on. You must do this until 3:33 am. When the clock hits 3:33 am, you are safe from the Midnight Man. It said that his spirit will leave the premises, as players claim that one hears the spirit leave through the front door.

Why the container of salt?

During the daring game, one must keep moving in the dark with the candle on. If the candle goes off, that gives the Midnight Man to grab you, take you, possess you, drive you insane, or whatever it is that this dark entity does with its victims.

So, if the light goes off, you have ten seconds to relight your candle. If the candle cannot be lit in less than 10 seconds, you must pour a circle of salt around you and stay inside the circle in order to stay safe from the Midnight Man.

Once this happens, you must remain in that circle made of salt until 3:33 am. Remember, if you step outside of the circle made of salt, you will lose your soul to the Midnight Man.

Signs that Tell When the Midnight Man is near

There are several ways to tell if the Midnight Man is near you when playing the game.

1. One is that you will hear whispers near you.
2. Your candle will blow out.
3. You will see a silhouette of a man in the dark.
4. You will feel extremely cold

Remember, if the candle blows out, you must light it within ten seconds or pour a circle of salt around you. Otherwise, say hello to insanity or death!

Things not to do when playing

The following is a list of what not to do when playing The Midnight Man game. If you do any of the following in the list below, you could lose your soul. Please, if you chose to play, do it at your own risk. Playing with dark forces could be fatal.

1. Do not use a flashlight. Only the light of a candle keeps the Midnight Man away.
2. Do not use another person's name or blood. It is believed that the demon will not be summoned at all. Only your name and blood will draw the interest of this dark force to play the game with you.
3. Do not attempt to talk or anger the Midnight Man during the game. It could lead to dire consequences. Not even the candlelight or circle of salt will protect you. Follow the rules to the tea in order to be safe from this dark entity.
4. Do not turn on any lights during the game. Once the game starts, it must be played by the rules until 3:33 am. Otherwise, you will become a demon's breakfast.
5. Do not fall asleep during the game, even when inside the circle of salt. Always keep moving with the candlelight! If you have to get into the circle, do not fall asleep!
6. Do not use a lighter like a candle. This will also cause you to lose your mind or soul. Please, only the light from a candle can protect you from the Midnight Man.

Please Do it Right

Remember to play the game by the rules with no exceptions. Also, take into account that you must be by yourself inside that house. If other people are hiding inside, it will not work at all. This game is done by oneself.

Take in mind that it is also a long game. It is three hours and thirty-three minutes long. That is a long time, and playing it, could make you see or hear some scary things. If that happens in the very beginning, you are in for a huge scary ride.

Another risk that is believed to happen when people play this game is that the Midnight Man never really leaves. It is said that the Midnight Man will lurk in the dark and watch you after the game has been played. This can happen for a long time after the game.

It is also advised to make sure you hear this dark spirit leave your house, by listening to the door open and shut from wherever you are at when the clock strikes 3:33 am. It is always a huge risk playing with dark forces.
