How Much of Ghost Adventures is Actually Staged?
Don’t believe everything you see on a ‘paranormal show!’

Ghost Adventures was introduced to me when I was a child. In the beginning, I believed that every single piece of evidence that was shown to me was real. Sometimes some of these episodes would lead to many sleepless nights.
Then as I grew older, I realized something about this show. I wasn’t scared anymore…and I was starting to question the footage and experiences the crew went through while visiting these ‘supposedly’ haunted places.
After doing some research, it appears that the Ghost Adventures crew behind the scenes had to add extra made-up stuff to receive more views for their show.
This was a little disappointing for my child self, since found footage became one of my favorite genres in horror.
After doing some research and going over my memories of what I remembered about the show, I thought it was a little…weird.
Zak likes to go a little too far sometimes during his interviews with people who experienced these ghost encounters during his investigations.
There was one episode that kind of surprised me, when it came to Zak’s behavior on set. For a Valentine’s Day special, on camera, he attempted to hit on a ghost lady. This was pretty freaking odd of Zak to do.
I understand that the crew was determined to receive some content for their show, but why let Zak make comments like that? He even went around asking people if they had encounters with a beautiful ghost woman.
Either it was just me, or the people appeared a little uncomfortable with Zak’s comments. I understand that Zak needs to be entertaining as a TV host, but there are limits to what you should ask people on camera!
Obviously, these comments were staged, but I don’t get the appeal.
I was so disappointed to learn that everything we hear the ‘ghosts’ say is possibly 100% fake.
When I was a child, I couldn’t get over the communication that the ghosts would share with the main crew. I thought that this was real, and I felt scared; picturing how evil these ghosts could possibly be.
Then I learned that these ghosts' interactions were fake.
Possibly.
I wouldn’t doubt that some of these interactions were real…but the chances that 99% of them could be is extremely low.
There was one episode, I wish I could remember the name, but one of the quotes that scared the crap out of me was from a demon that mocked Zak.
This episode took place in an orphanage, where many children died and were buried in the backyard of the area. It was a deeply tragic story, and I was shocked when I saw how huge the graveyard was.
So, when some guy mentioned to Zak that some weird looking demon was following him at some point, due to the evil that took place there, I believed the story.
Then I came to the conclusion that the demon interaction was fake. It was confirmed years back, when I was still in high school.
In my opinion, I thought it was a little messed up for Zak’s crew to include a demon interaction like this in a place that possibly had a lot of tragedy that included children…I honestly hope that history was fake.
Some YouTubers have actually gone to several places that the Ghost Adventures crew investigated, and they experienced absolutely nothing.
There are few YouTubers that don’t care for faking anything to get views when it comes to the paranormal. Some of them go for the adventure, just to see if they will experience anything.
So far from some YouTubers I have seen, they each confirmed they didn’t go through any sort of paranormal experience.
A good example is from the same Valentine’s Day special episode that Zak and his crew experienced. Apparently, they claimed that the ghost lady touched them while they were lying on the bed in separate hotel rooms.
A YouTuber named Chris James (his comedy is pretty hilarious), went to the same hotel. He stayed in the same room where the ghost lady interacted with Zak.
James confirmed straight out that he did not go through any paranormal event at all. He said it was fun staying at a haunted hotel, but…nothing happened.
That’s funny, considering that Zak and his crew each confirmed they had an interaction with ghost lady.
Yeah, this definitely sounds 100% staged.
I’m sure we are all aware that Ghost Adventures was created to be a form of entertainment for people who love horror. Don’t get me wrong, it can be pretty fun to watch, but now I watch it just to make fun of the show.
Watching Zak and his crew running screaming from fear when they get really scared gets me every time. Now I wonder…are they good actors, or did they really see something?
I think I’ll go with the latter.
