Hi everybody, my name is .... Sam!

I know it's been quite a long time since I've uploaded anything.

If you're one of those who followed early on I bet you’re wondering where I've been! I can imagine you're surprised to see me finally posting again, after so much "radio silence". Well I'm back. I broke my writer's block and I'm broadcasting this message after such a long absence, an absence I had fully believed would be permanent.

The fact that I have the creative energy to post at all feels like a personal miracle, so I just had to get on here and let you know about the deal that changed everything for me!

But... publishers have passed on all of my work.

Rejection after rejection had me feeling so .... low.

I lost hope.

On top of that rejection, as a creative I faced an existential threat: AI was exploding on the writing scene and .... dominating the field by sheer magnitude.

How could I compete with that storm of content?

My fellow writers, my fellow poets-- I’m sure you can relate to this sort of anxiety.

I mean, computers are cranking out .... whole novels— no author, no editor and the whole process only takes a few hours of digital processing!

No matter how much soul or effort I put into my own .... human writing, no matter how good my ideas felt, I realized I was at a huge disadvantage in terms of speed and output. I began to accept that it would be pointless to even try.

And consequently I began to really hate everything to do with Ai, I saw the whole field as the enemy of everything that makes art human and worthwhile.

I still forced out a couple short stories here and there, but my heart was never in it.

I didn’t usually even like what I came up with.

Finally I decided, between work and taking care of my kids, writing was never gonna be worth my time.

I gave up, completely.

Gave up my art.

Gave up my dream.

The number of stories I’ve posted has dropped all the way to zero these past few months. and that could have been the final nail in the coffin of my creative dreams.

But…
