Raja Cholan was not only a skilled warrior and administrator, but he was also a patron of art, literature, and culture. During his reign, Tamil literature flourished, and many literary works were composed, including the famous epic poem, "Kalki Purana."

Raja Cholan was also a great builder, and he constructed several magnificent temples, including the Brihadeeswara Temple, which is considered one of the finest examples of Dravidian architecture.

The temple is famous for its towering vimana (tower), which is made of a single block of granite and weighs around 80 tonnes. The temple also has a large statue of Nandi (the sacred bull), which is carved out of a single block of granite.

Under Raja Cholan's rule, the Chola Empire reached its zenith and became one of the most powerful empires in South Asia. The empire's economy thrived due to the growth of trade, and the empire's military power was unmatched in the region.
