I couldn't be more pleased to announce that one of the best anthology formatted shows is making a return to the small screen as TNT orders a 2 hour horror block for Tales From The Crypt.

Having grown up on a steady diet of anthology horror shows like Are You Afraid Of The Dark, then moving onto stronger stuff like Tales from the Dark Side and Monsters. I couldn't be more pleased to announce that one of the best anthology formatted shows is making a return to the small screen as TNT orders a 2 hour horror block for Tales From The Crypt.

The original opening had enough cheesy fun and horror to invite you in for it's half hour segments.

TNT is trying to bring the show back from the dead and have hired occasional horror movie maker M.Night.Shyamalan to be in charge of the reboot.

Here's what the man himself had to say:

"I couldn’t be more excited to be teaming up with Kevin Reilly, Sarah Aubrey and the entire TNT team in this unique endeavor. To be part of such a beloved brand like ‘Tales From the Crypt,’ something I grew up watching, and to also have the chance to push the boundaries of genre television as a whole, is an inspiring opportunity that I can’t wait to dive into."

Take a visit with the man who has a sixth sense....

Now interestingly the 2 hour block will showcase long and short stories, including all NEW tales as well as original favourites, presumably from the TV show and comic book.

The series is based on the original EC horror comics Tales From The Crypt and The Vault Of Horror that came out of the 1950's. The comic's famously came under fire for being too horrible for children and was blamed for corrupting their minds turning them into juvenile delinquents. How times have changed....

This series is sure to give you the creeps

Those who were too young to see the TV series when it originally aired, HBO was in charge of the show and it ran for 7 seasons from 1989 to 1996. It also spawned three movies with Demon Knight (1995), Bordello of Blood(1996) and lastly a DVD outing Tales From The Crypt Present: Ritual (2002).

It also managed to have a kids TV show called Tales From The Crypt-keeper (1993) and it ran for 3 seasons. Although the series had a much lighter tone then the gore filled main outing, it still managed to terrify it's young audience.

I personally remember an episode featuring a boy who turns into a werewolf and it's stayed with me ever since. That's probably 20 something years ago, hows THAT for longevity!

Still scary in animation form

The series is set to launch in the fall, i'll keep my ear eagerly to the ground as news rises up.
