Ghostly Happenings in Wisconsin
Haunted places

The Haunting of Room 507

Situated in Milwaukee, the Ambassador Hotel, built in 1928, has a rich history hosting such famous guests as the Beatles, Liberace, and President John F. Kennedy. Besides the glitz and glamour, there is a dark side and the hotel is haunted.
Unfortunately, the infamous Jeffrey Dahmer, known as the Milwaukee Cannibal or Milwaukee Monster, an American serial killer and sex offender who killed and dismembered 17 men and boys between 1978 and 1991, chose this hotel to commit his first murder in Milwaukee.
Now in Room 507, where Dahmer took his first victim, Steven Tuomi, guests have felt a heavy atmosphere and seen strange things happen, such as waking up to find their partner in an awkward position reminiscent of the body of Tuomi.
In other parts of the hotel messages have been seen written on mirrors and other paranormal activity.
Go ahead, I dare you, book Room 507 and enjoy your stay.
The Bloodied Bride of Bloody Bridge
Situated in Hull, there is a spooky stretch of County Highway 66 that has been referred to as the Bloody Bride Bridge. (pictured above)
According to ghostly tales, a bride and groom were driving home from their wedding. Suddenly their car spun out of control while crossing the bridge carrying Highway 66 over the Plover River.
It turned out to be a fatal accident, and several years later a police officer suddenly struck a woman in a wedding gown while driving over the bridge. He got out to investigate, but no one was there. He then turned back to his vehicle to see the blood-splattered woman in her wedding gown sitting in his backseat.
Since then many people have seen the bloody bride on the bridge on rainy nights. According to local legend, if you stop on the bridge at midnight, both the bride and the groom will manifest in your back seat.
Meet the Ghost of Chief Highknocker

Situated in Green Lake, the Dartford Cemetery appears to be a garden, but beware, the surrounding area is not peaceful but eerie.
The best-known ghostly spirit if that of Chief Highknocker. The chief drowned in 1911 while attempting to swim across a river, making his way to Green Lake, considered a sacred location by the Native Americans. Chief Highknocker was the last reigning chief of the Green Lake area.
You’ll also encounter the ghostly spirits of soldiers who fought in the Civil War marching through the cemetery.
Other paranormal activity includes seeing shadowy figures, hearing unexplained sounds, and seeing orbs of light.
The cemetery challenges anyone who wants to sit on top of a mausoleum on the southside and see if they’ll be pushed off by the ghost of a child buried there.
The Ghost of Percy Keene and a Phantom Dog

Situated in Oshkosh, the Grand Opera House was built in 1883.
It has become the home of the ghostly spirit of Percy Keene, who used to be a stage manager there. He causes paranormal activity to occur on the balcony where he is often seen.
The oddest thing is that a phantom dog has been seen, unexplained footsteps have been heard, and a strange orange-tinted mist has been seen hovering on the stage.
Meet the Witches and Find Out What Hell Looks Like

Situated in Maribel, the Maribel Caves Hotel has gotten the nickname Hotel Hell due to some of the strange goings on here. It was originally a health spa operating in the late 1800s, and the hotel was built in 1900. It was constructed from limestone blocks, giving it the appearance of a fort. After a fire in 1985, the hotel closed down.
Now it is an area for paranormal activity with floating objects, ghostly apparitions, and people touched by unseen hands.
Legend has it that a coven of dark witches used the empty building and managed to open a portal to hell allowing dark entities to enter and haunt the building.
The Man in the Long Black Robe

Situated in Marshfield, the St. Joseph’s Hospital has seen its share of paranormal activity, particularly in the West Wing.
In other words, there you are lying sick in the hospital, and then the ghostly apparition of a man in a black robe comes to visit you. Both staff and patients have seen him wandering the halls and going in and coming out of the rooms of patients. No one knows who he is or why he haunts the hospital, but to me it sounds like he is looking for a victim to take back to wherever he comes from.
Meet the Spooky Witch

In Ripon, the Callan Road is referred to as Witch Road since it is haunted by the ghostly apparition of a witch who inhabits the woods surrounding the road. People driving along the road at night say the gnarled branches of the tree cast gruesome shadows in their headlights and then take the form of a twisted old crone, and you behold the witch.
Others have seen strange flashing lights in the woods. I assume the witch was stirring her cauldron, and there is an old house that must belong to the witch. Anyone brave enough can explore further.
