The Ghostly Residents of the Inn

Situated in Charleston, the Battery Carriage House Inn was built in the 1800s. It has earned a reputation of being among the most haunted places in South Carolina.
In Room 3, guests have seen bright spheres in the air, one of which looked like a gigantic firefly.
Room 8 is the most dreaded. Here, guests can encounter a headless Civil War soldier, a child, or a white woman appear to be present, and you might even encounter a malevolent apparition. The sounds or the sight of a floating torso have awoken many people.
In Room 10, you can meet the Gentleman Ghost, who is the ghostly apparition of a former college student from an affluent family who committed suicide by leaping from the roof.
See the Funeral Procession

Situated in Hilton Head, Baynard Plantation comes with a ghost story. If you visit the ruins after the sun goes down, you might get to see and hear the ghostly funeral procession of the former owner, William Baynard, passing by his home.
Shadowy Figures and Paranormal Activity
Over the course of its existence, Greenville Tuberculosis Hospital has functioned as a jail release facility, an insane asylum, and a hospital for tuberculosis patients. It is a well-liked location for paranormal investigators.
People have heard disembodied voices and odd sounds such as banging, yelling, and bell clanging. The hospital has burned down, but the location is now a park where locals frequently witness shadowy figures prowling about. (pictured above)
The Ghost of Alice

The Hermitage is situated in Murrell’s Inlet.
Allard Flagg, a wealthy physician, moved into the Hermitage in 1849 and asked his sister, Alice, to live with him. He greatly disapproved of Alice falling in love with a young lumberman. Still, she persisted with covert meetings until her brother sent her off to a Charleston boarding school after hearing about the lovers' covert engagement.
When Alice returned to the Hermitage, she contracted malaria and passed away. Dr. Flagg found the engagement ring hanging from a ribbon around her neck and threw it into the marsh.
Now the ghostly apparition of Alice can be seen leaving the Hermitage and heading for her tomb in All Saint’s Cemetery, holding her breast where her ring had been. Since she was buried without the ring, her most prized possession, her ghost can also be seen searching for the ring through the swamp.
Would You Visit a Cemetery Called Hell’s Gate?

One of the most haunted cemeteries in the state is known as Hell’s Gate, officially the Oakwood Cemetery.
People here have said their phones start ringing or the batteries run out. Those who answer these phantom calls have encountered the “busy” tone. Perhaps the ghost was seeking the sound of a different voice.
Those brave enough to visit after dark have seen odd lights and an enigmatic mist that appears to cover the ground. Others have heard the laughter of children throughout this eerie cemetery.
Ghostly Apparitions

Situated in Sumter, the Salem Black River Church was built in 1846.
One of the ghosts here is that of a Southern Belle; another is of a very depressed young child who is frequently seen crying.
There is also a ghostly priest whose family perished during the plague.
In a small building at the rear of the church, people have seen flickering lights, felt cold spots, and seen the shadowy figure of a man, who could be the ghost of the priest.
Seven Ghosts or Seven Devils

The restless ghosts of seven people who were hanged from the Seven Devils Bridge in Woodruff make this one of the most haunted places in the state. It is said that no living person can cross the bridge at midnight without being hurt, since these seven spirits haunt it every night. Most people who have tried to cross during the witching hour have ended up crying and screaming in the dead of night.
Would you dance with seven devils beneath the pale moonlight?
Meet the Ghosts of Pirates

White Point Gardens in Charleston is among the most haunted locations in South Carolina.
The gardens, sometimes called the Battery, are said to be haunted by the ghostly spirits of the many pirates who were hanged here. These daring spirits are said to wander the gardens in pursuit of their executioners, seeking revenge.
