Little Girl Spirit that will Get You Lost in the Woods

One of the most haunted places in Montana is Bear Canyon. It is a beautiful place to hike or camp and is also the place to see the ghostly apparition of a little girl in a white dress. This little girl spirit likes to lure women away from the trail and make them get lost in the woods.

The Ghostly Nun

Situated in Virginia City, the most haunted building is the Bonanza Inn. The inn has a reputation for murder, execution, and debauchery.

Guests staying here have reported being pinched or poked. The most haunted room is Room 1, where any guests staying overnight might meet the ghostly apparition of a nun.

Strange Paranormal Phenomena

Situated in Boulder, the Boulder Hot Springs Inn and Spa was originally built in 1863. The hotel is a historic landmark and one of the most haunted places in the state.

The main ghostly spirit is known as Simone, and it is believed she is the spirit of a prostitute once murdered in the building by a mining executive.

A strange male voice has been heard when no one is around.

Also, spirits of children have been seen running around the halls at night.

Ghosts of Former Residents

The Daly Mansion is located in Hamilton and was built in the late 1800s. The former residents living here never moved out even after death. Former owners Margaret and Marcus Daly tragically lost their 16-year-old daughter Mary to typhoid fever and two years later lost their 12-year-old son Marcus Daly Jr.

The ghostly apparition of Margaret has been seen walking the halls, peeking out of windows and generally keeping an eye on things.

Marcus still occupies his former office and walks around the grounds late at night.

Even the ghostly spirits of former servant still walk the halls tending to their tasks.

The apparitions of children have been seen, and laughter and playful noises have been heard.

Other unexplained phenomena includes unexplained footsteps, doors creaking open, and the sound of someone playing the piano in an empty room.

The Ghostly Spirit of Annabel and a Haunted Kitchen and a Haunted Room

Situated in downtown Billings, the Dude Rancher Lodge looks like a cozy and rustic place. It was built in 1949 and is haunted by the ghostly spirit of Annabel Dufner, one of the original owners.

The ghost of Annabel likes to flicker the lights and turn TVs on and off, and her voice can be heard whispering in the halls.

A haunted spot is the kitchen where pots and pans move around by themselves and the smell of food fills the kitchen even when it is empty.

Room 226 is where guests have felt cold spots and seen mysterious shadows. Some have felt someone sitting on the edge of the bed even though they could not be seen.

The Ghosts of the Brothel

Situated in Butte, the Dumas Brothel once did a booming business during the town’s mining days. Today it is a museum, but from 1890 to 1982, it was the longest-running brothel in U.S. history. 

The women who worked here often died tragically and have chosen to remain. Among the ghostly spirits is the madam. She haunts the second floor and has been seen standing in the doorway; others have heard her voice.

The ghostly spirit of a young woman who was murdered by a jealous lover can be seen in the upstairs room where the temperature drops and the air feels heavy.

Below in the basement, where workers were forced to live in harsh conditions, people have reported hearing strange noises and feeling cold spots.

The Woman in White and Other Ghostly Apparitions

In Fort Peck, the Fort Peck Theater was built during the Great Depression and has become one of the most haunted places in Montana.

Among the ghosts here is the spirit called the Engineer. According to legen he was a construction worker who died while building the theater’s dam. The ghostly spirit of a man in work overalls has been seen on the catwalk above the stage or in the back of the auditorium. Sounds of tools dropping and the faint hum of machinery have been heard.

The ghostly apparition of the Lady in White has been seen in a flowing white gown wandering the backstage area or sitting among the audience. She is believed to be a former actress.

Actors from onstage have seen shadowy figures in the seats who vanish when approached and have heard the sounds of applause and whispers in an empty theater.

A mischievous spirit likes to play pranks on the staff, turning lights on and off, moving props around, and opening and closing doors.

Do you want to look in the basement? Down there people have felt an overwhelming sense of fear, felt cold spots, and seen mysterious shadows moving about.

The Ghosts of a Saloon Girl and a Former Guest

Situated in Fort Benton, the Grand Union Hotel is one of the oldest operating hotels in Montana, opening in 1882.

The ghostly spirit of a saloon girl has been seen roaming the halls, particularly near the third-floor balcony where she’s seen standing at the railing. The girl was murdered in the hotel during the late 1800s. Along with her presence come the scent of lavender, which was her favorite perfume.

The spirit of a former guest who died in his room is still hanging around. Guests staying in the room have heard strange noises like knocking on the walls and footsteps pacing the floor.

The Ghosts of the Many Glacier Hotel

Situated in the heart of Glacier National Park, the Many Glacier Hotel was built in 1915. This historic hotel is also home to ghostly spirits.

One spirit is that of a young woman who drowned in nearby Swiftcurrent Lake. Her ghostly apparition can be seen near the lake and wandering the halls in the hotel; guests have seen wet footprints or hear her crying late at night.

Meanwhile a ghostly bellman knocks on the door and then disappears.

Meet the Ghostly Spirit of Sacagawea

Situated in Three Forks, the Sacajawea Hotel is known for offering lux accommodations. It was built in 1910.

The hotel is home to the ghostly spirit of Sacagawea, the Native American woman and companion to Lewis and Clark at age 16

Guests and staff have seen her spirit in the lobby, where she likes to be near the fireplace, staring into the flames until she vanishes.

In Room 307, guests have sensed a presence, and others have felt the bed shake and heard whispers in the dark.
