I grew up believing in ghost and spirits and know that most are there to watch over ya, but it wasn't until I began work in a small recruiting agency that I understood some spirits have been watching and protecting you your whole life.
The owner of the company I worked with had told me stories of the ghost that resided throughout the long building. How it seemed to like things certain ways. If a mess was left it cleaned it preferring the offices and facility to be tidy. I got it I was a virgo and I loved a clean place. Prior to this conversation I did mention that I had saw a man who passed by the service window that seperated our office from the lobby. He was headed to the farther side of the room which had been divided into my bosses office by a wall. The supervisor explained that the full of our office was once just a open room and after my boss had gotten her position she insited they make a sitting lobby area quartered off from the onsites office and seperate the breakroom from her office. It looked so professional now and I thought how depressing it must have looked at the time. Both the supervisor and I came to the conclusion that the ghost I had seen was just a worker passing through.
It was my 5th month on the job and was alone in the office the last of my calls and paperwork were done and I wanted to enjoy a smoke. As per my routine I cleaned my desk, dumped my trash into the large waste can just outside the door leading to the warehouse and did a quick cleaning of the rest of the office. "There you go, I promised I would keep your last resting place clean I hope you like it".
I stepped out the front door lite it up and took a deep puff. When the hand touched my shoulder I nearly wet myself but gained composure and turned around quickly. A tall man stood very close to me in all black. "Are you hiring "he asked as I casually moved back a few feet. "Yes" I replied pulling my mask over my face. "we aren't open now but come back in the morning" I offered trying to be polite but the whole time thinking its close to 8:pm you should know we are closed. He stepped close to me "how long are you here ".
"Not long" I said putting the smoke out and heading back towards the door. "Wait" he said stepping in front of me. "Can I use the bathroom?"
The hair on my back stood straight up and I stepped back again eyeing the door that was still ajar. "No but walk up the path and there is a spot you can go to sorry" I pointed around the large tree and tried to walk to the door but my legs felt like spaghetti. I felt sweat forming on my forehead and used the sleeve of my sweatshirt to wipe it away. "We close at 4pm so you just come back by then". He just stood there then stepped closer again. "I see you here late everyday, your man must miss you at night".
I took a deep breath did not like the direction this was going. "Well it is what it is" I forgot about kindness and being professional and hurried past him pulling the heavy door and slamming it firmly behind me. A burst of heat ran up my spine and I just tried to gain my composure I was probably thinking more into something that was nothing. I walked into the lobby and opened the second door to the office intend on gathering my things and leaving soon but decided to give the stranger some time to leave before I deliberately walked back outside. I made another cup of tea I sat at my desk, opened my email a scanned through it trying to pass the time. What seemed like a hour was only five minutes and my patience got the best of me I just wanted to go home. I stood up put my gathered my belongings upset that I had let myself be held hostage at work simply because some guy had rubbed me the wrong way. As I did a quick check and was in route to leave there was a knock on the door. The backdoor the only door that lead directly out to the warehouse. The warehouse that had really no opening unless you walked around the side of the building through the darkness and found you way to, also the door that some of the worker would knock on to see the office and repairs needed or to talk to me. Either way it was extremely late and I wasn't expected to be here at this time.
I grabbed the scissors off my desk and yelled out who was there. No response. I yelled again nothing then the knocking came quicker and from all around the office. I fell to the floor my legs were spaghetti again. I tried to think then finally called the police. I asked that they didn't have their alarm off because he would run. What seemed like a hour past but there was a knock at the front door it was the police.
I almost fell into the officers chest explaining that I was trying to leave and what had happen. He just stood there looking at me. "Ma'am I don't know what happen in here but we just found a man hiding next to a van with a knife. Your car is the only one out there and I believe that you may have been attacked if you had left alone. The next day I saw my friend pass the service window. It still caught me off guard but just because it was the unknown and later that day I received a call that the man was off the streets and that was all.
No one believes me when I tell them and I am ok with this. I have been here now for two years and have been safe. And in return I take the trash out daily and make sure his last resting place is clean.
