George Romero, the grandfather of zombie films, helped pioneer the genre in his 77 years of life.

In 1968 the world changed when a single man with a vision to change the horror genre forever pushed his glasses up, leaned forward, and began his first film as a director. George Romero, the grandfather of zombie films, has no doubt touched our hearts in ways we may never have imagined. His love for horror stands well known as he helped pioneer the genre in ways never imagined in his astonishing 77 years of life.

Because of him we've been capable of finding entertainment in films such as Night of the Living Dead, Day of the Dead, and even continued on through the formats of television and books. Because of him, many have been able to enjoy the zombie genre due to the interest he helped ignite in it. With bones cackling, teeth gnawing, and flesh rotting, there is no doubt that zombie themed media have George A. Romero to thank for what we see these days. However, today, a flame has flickered out, a camera has stopped rolling, and a pair of glasses have been set upon a script now finished.

Today, we've given our final thoughts on a man who's legacy will never be forgotten, and the internet has shown that the loss is great.

There's no doubt that a man such as George A. Romero has touched the hearts of many. For his colleagues, family, and friends; the loss is all, but too real. The pain is there, but the memories are very alive. Such is shown thanks to names such as Edgar Wright, Stephen King, John Carpenter, and Neil Druckmann.

It's clear to see that the sentiments are driven home by his friends and colleagues.

While it is clear that his friends are mourning his fans are as well.

There's no doubt that even as a writer, that George A. Romero influenced the way we all see horror. As a visionary, he changed everything seen in horror and helped pioneer many uses of make-up, visuals, and art in movies. George, you will be missed.
