'Family' Made Me Wildly Uncomfortable and a Little Scared

This is one of the few trailers that actually frightened me.

Family is a horror movies that is barely being released for digital this year, after coming out back in 2024. I was innocently scrolling through Twitter, and I came across one of the most terrifying images I have seen in horror. A very tall dog was standing on it’s hind legs in the middle of the hallway, obviously hinting that this was indeed not a damn dog.

This image alone scared the shit out of me, and I knew I had to watch the trailer.

I instantly regretted it.

It’s rare for a trailer to a horror movie to make me so uncomfortable, and this one achieved it. The trailer begins with a little girl yelling for her father, and for one second, we see the point of view of the little girl. I could have sworn I had seen something outside in the darkness, but that was only a trick, because a literal person emerges from the darkness, walking very fast towards the fast.

This trailer gripped me, making me feel like I was watching something that I wasn’t supposed to see. This evil thing that I had just witnessed felt so violating, and it scared me to another level. The trailer then reveals a young girl and her family, have moved to a new home.

Everything appears well, until the little girl and her mother realize that the father is going through something. He is taken to the hospital, and he begins to recover from home. The little girl states that she did something bad, unleashing something evil from it’s prison. This entity or whatever the hell it is begins to haunt the little girl, making her see things that are possibly real or not.

Her parents start to act very strange and creepy, to the point that that they start to sound different while their bodies make creaking noises. The damn dog runs toward a tree, and suddenly vanishes without any explanation, only for the dog to return back in the home, standing on it’s hind legs. That image alone was enough for me to stop watching the trailer, but my curiosity got the better of me.

The little girl starts to witness more scary moments with her parents, believing that this powerful entity has possessed both of them, making them resemble monsters than humans. The girl looks absolutely terrified, but her determination to somehow save her family won’t leave her, and it looks like she is going to go through a lot of tough shit.

I got to be very honest here, my breaking point would certainly be finding my dog STANDING ON IT’S HIND LEGS.

Seriously, imagine seeing that shit in real life…I would have bolted immediately from my home. If my family was going through some sort of possession, I’m sorry, I wouldn’t even hesitate to abandon them. That is complete nightmare fuel. There is something uncanny about seeing something so innocent become a thing that looks so twisted and evil.

Again, I know how insane this sounds, but I would seriously get the hell out of there, and yes, it would be evil of me to abandon my family in a time of need…but that image alone would have been my breaking point. I would never be able to look at a dog the same way again.

Family is one of the scariest trailers I have seen in years. It’s tough for a trailer to scare the crap out of me, and this one succeeded. The trailer barely showed anything, and even though we got enough clues as to what the movie is going to be about, the scary images still don’t make any sense. We still are in the dark about the movie and what could actually be going on, and it’s enough for me to consider watching the movie.

I will probably be traumatized for rest of my life, but why not?

It's a horror movie after all.
