"You guys are not seriously going there are you?" asked Chelsea in a shaky voice.

"Of course we are! This is the only time her ghost comes out. Don't be such a wuss Chelsea!" replied Jake.

"Come on Chelsea, do you even believe in ghosts?" Sadie asked Chelsea and Chelsea shook her head no. "Besides, we are all going to have flashlights and I will be right beside you," Sadie reassured her.

"Okay, but if you guys are mean I will turn back home. Don't be mean to me, especially you Kyle," said Chelsea.

"Fine. I promise I will not be mean," said Kyle as he drew a cross with his finger across his heart.

The teenagers got up from the floor and tugged their backpacks on their shoulders each of them had their flashlights and they left Harrington's residence towards the lake. They walked past children screaming "trick or treat" tired parents carrying their little ones in their arms across the street. The moon was full and the clouds were lightly speckling in the sky.

"What is the story behind the ghost anyways?" asked Chelsea hoping she would feel better about the whole situation.

"You haven't heard it?" asked Jake.

"No," responded Chelsea.

"Well, when the town was first built here, there was a mayor and he had a five-year-old daughter. then, one day Halloween she was following her babysitter who went to meet up with this guy near the kissing log. the baby sitter dared the little girl to go swimming in the lake and then the little girl drowned, sometimes you can hear her shouting Maria" said Kyle.

"That's not what happened. The little girl was playing with a locket and it fell to the bottom of the lake, the little girl went to get it and she drowned," said Jake. They walked past the field and finally got to the lake. The lake was calm and not another soul in sight. The mist started to rise and the fog was surrounding the area.

"Guys, I need to pee," said Kyle urgently.

"Just go in the bushes, and why didn't you go when we were at Chelsea's house?" asked Sadie.

"Okay, I will be back soon," he said and he took off with his flashlight.

"Well we are here and she is not, see Chels...we don't have to worry," said Sadie.

"So, I guess we can leave right?" asked Chelsea hopefully.

"Not yet, let's wait till Kyle gets back," he said. "We just have to throw the ball into the lake and then she is supposed to appear."

"Alright. Fine," said Sadie she grabbed the ball and threw it into the lake as this was the way to lure out the ghost. It made a splash and nothing appeared the silence was eerie as they waited.

"Seriously, where is that guy? I am going to go look for Kyle," said Jake and he took off heading into the direction where Kyle had gone to pee. After a few minutes, Chelsea grew anxious as the minutes went by.

"They are still not back yet!" exclaimed Chelsea. "What if..."

"Don't be silly, they're probably trying to pull a prank, let's both go and see where they are," they both shined their flashlights on the ground looking for the guys. When they came across a pair of bare feet, they shined their flashlights higher and they came face to face with a five-year-old girl, she was wearing a white gown, it was dirty and her hair was matted and dark, her blue eyes stared at the two girls.

"Who are you?" asked Chelsea as she bent down. The little girl said nothing but stared.

"What's your name honey?" asked Sadie.

"Maria..." she said quietly. "I feel cold," she said in a small voice and Chelsea reach out to the girl and she felt a cold shiver up her spine. Suddenly the little girl's eyes started to fill up with black, her eyes rolled to the back of her head, and her blue eyes; turning completely black, the girl grabbed Chelsea's arm. Sadie screamed and she took off running as fast as she could leaving Chelsea on her own.

"Come join my other friends," she said in a half-possessed voice and her neck jerked to the side. Chelsea tried to pry her arm away from her. "You are joining my friends!" the little girl screamed.

The little girl dragged Chelsea and there was Jake and Kyle lying in the grass, their necks were covered in blood, their eyes were lifeless and opened. Not a breath of air came to either of them. Chelsea screamed and the little girl grabbed a bloodied stick and she plunged it into Chelsea's neck and the little girl stared into her eyes as Chelsea's blood spurted over her jean jacket, the little girl smiled as Chelsea toppled down to the ground. The little girl plunged the stick into her neck once more. She laughed a little bit her eyes still black and now her white gown was dripped in red blood.

Sadie tripped and sure enough, the little girl appeared before her. She plunged the same stick into her neck and the little girl dragged the stick further down into her vein and blood spilled out. Sadie tried to get her off, but everything happened so fast. Sadie bled out onto the grass, her eyes and mouth remained open as if she wanted to scream, but no breath came from her ever again.

So beware. Don't go to Mist Lake as the little girl waits for every Halloween to kill...
